Ugh - the swelling in my feet
My poor feet - the tops of them are so swollen! They look like they just might tear open at any given minute like a hot dog on a BBQ! They hurt so badly - like a bruise and a sunburn together.
I can't remember the last time I was even able to squeeze into a pair of sneakers or any other shoes aside from flip flops.
My doctor said this was normal - my BP is fine and there's no protein in my urine. It's just unsightly.
DH and I started calling my feet "alligator feet" because that's what they look like - fat with long toes
I just want my skinny feet and ankles back! Please tell me this goes away after delivery!

Re: Ugh - the swelling in my feet
oh no! You poor thing! Ugh I'm so sorry...it must make you miserable.
Don't you love our DH's and their affectionate teasing nicknames? Alligator feet- poor thing! You know what DH calls my belly? Ralph. As in Kramden. Or Jackie Gleason. So when I come down the stairs he goes "Hey Ralph!"
I'm so glad you don't have any trouble with BP/protein though- very good sign!

Re: Ugh - the swelling in my feet
Mine are HORRIBLE!
My ankles go into my feet, like one long appendage, no ankles anymore...I'm 35 weeks now and I wake up and they are already swollen.
By the end of the day with the heat, after walking around, they look horrendous! Thank God I can wear flip flops all day, otherwise everything constrains my feet! Even my slippers at home are stretched out! This is one symptom I won't miss!

I remember when I had Mikayla, about a week after I had her, I Was sitting home on the couch, looked down and shouted to DH "holy sh!t, I have ankles again"

Re: Ugh - the swelling in my feet
My feet, ankles, calves got even more swollen in the hospital after delivery from all the IV fluids (c-section).
Thankfully, by one week postpartum, my feet and ankles were back to normal. I had forgotten what my feet and ankles looked like and how skinny my ankles actually were!

Re: Ugh - the swelling in my feet
I know what you mean! A few months ago someone said that her feet looked like Shrek's feet. By the end of the day I just look and think to myself, if only they were green...
It stinks. I'm sort of embarrassed to wear shorts because of it! Everyone tells me to watch salt, but that doesn't make much of a difference.
When I am home from work it's not as bad. I think sitting at my desk all day makes it worse

Re: Ugh - the swelling in my feet
DH calls me sausage toes ... and I can't even wear flip flops because my foot just swells up around the straps.
I shove my feet into sneakers every morning to contain them (which makes my ankles look lovely) and I need the support when commuting to the city.
