UGH Dr office/ insurance issue
So my doctors office required lab work. Dr. S says- they will tell you up front what lab to go to for your insurance company. So I go to leave, they send me to Quest Diagnostics. I go to quest, they don't take copay- you get a bill. OK. Lab work done, months ago. Another issue with my insurance company has me on hold, ad I hear a reminder- as of January 1st, Quest Diagnostics is NO LONGER COVERED. So I ask the woman with Empire Plan- she says- nope- and your doctors office should know that- you will have to pay a $350 deductable. There is nothing my isurance company can do- is there any way I can argue with the doctors office? Or is this an example of why you should be more aware of the specifics of your insurance coverage?

Same happend to me, and i couldnt do anything about it but unfortunately pay.. If you dont they can put you in collections and there goes your credit.
What i do now is check with my insurance before i go and make sure its covered... Whats the point of having insurance if you end up with the bills!!

Oh wow that really sucks!!! Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do about it. I'm guessing the insurance co and docs office are going to tell you you should have been more aware.
That's just so wrong... I know I would have totally done the same thing you did.
Hey, how did dinner go last night? Did you survive the sauce?

I would call up quest and tell them that you were refered by your doctor to them but they do not take your insurance. I did this and they said no problem it is not your responsibility.

Oh I will definitely try that, thanks!
Jennie- totally survided red sauce. I am so happy, I missed it. It had been like 6 days. By the way- I bought tomato sauce in a jar from Lombardis Market, and ate like a cup of it out of the jar. Delish.
ETA- I am aware of how frequently I type the word like.

Awesome! I'm glad you got to have your red sauce and good to know about Lombardi's meat market sauce.
We have an Italian food store right up the road from us, it's fab.
They sell Nutella!

Did you call the office you went to, the Syosset customer service center, or the main headquarters in NJ?

Re: UGH Dr office/ insurance issue
Same thing happened to me. My doc sent it to a lab that my insurance doesn't participate in. When I got a bill from the lab I called my doc's office and they said they would contact the lab. Bottom line since the office effed up they got the lab to write off the bill. I didn't pay anything.
Call you doctor's office they can always do something, especially since it was their error. They send so many specimens for lab work the lab will work with them.

Cool, thanks ladies- I called the Dr.s office, and they said to call them back if I get a bill.

Good luck!! Insurance companies are terribly picky. They always place the blame on others!
