Ugh, I really hate doc offices sometimes!
So, I am waiting on the biopsy results from the lump I found in my boob. Everyone said to me multiple times, it's probably benign-- we are doing the biopsy *just* to be sure. I called this morning, the nurse just called me back-- and said, well, I can't tell you the results the doctor has to review them first.
Ok, usually when I call for tests results, the secretary gives them to me as the results are usually normal.
One time, I had to wait for the nurse to call me back, I guess since while the results were normal, they needed to be explained to me.
So now, what does it mean that the nurse can't give me the results??!!
Did the doc just happen to review the results of alllll the other tests before I called?
Is it different because it's a totally different kind of test??
Now I am worried!! If I have to wait til Monday, I am gonna shoot someone!

I think its because it was a biopsy..just a different kind of test, try to not worry, I know it is hard!!!!! I hope the doc calls soon, keep bugging them!!!!

No, Dont get crazy yet. Biopsy result usually are given to the patient by the physician, so that is why.
But, I would be VERY persistent and keep calling. You should not have to wait to have an eased mind until Monday!!!!
Call back again in a little while. Especially before it is 3pm!

My mom just had the SAME exact thing happen to her... Her doctor had to be the one to explain it to her, just because it is an important test, and they want to make sure they can answer any other questions that you might have, KWIM?
My moms did come back good, but they still made her wait for the doctor.. so please don't stress yourself hun!

Don't go getting yourself crazy over it - I know standard is that the doctor has to review the results before they can give them out. Maybe she just meant that before she can give them to you she has to show them to the doctor.

My Dr. made me speak with her directly too for biopsy results. She did tell me ahead of time that is how it would be regardless of results.

I think with biopsies Dr's always have to review them and get back to you, standard tests is a diff story!!! Don't worry!!!!

a close friend of mine is a nurse, and she has told me about this stuff before...
a nurse that SPECIALIZES in whatever you are calling about can answer your questions, therefore give you all the information you need.
with biopsies or other important tests, there is likely no way the nurse or anyone other than the doctor can answer any questions you have - so the doctor must give them to you.
the way i understood it best was that let's say the nurse gives you the info and then you ask her all kinds of questions, to which she cannot answer. would you feel better or worse? For me - i'd feel worse...knowing the diagnosis but with no answers to my pressing questions...
Also - if the nurse did answer your questions and gave our wrong info - that's a HUGE problem....so that's why they tend not to do it...
i know it doesn't help you feel better - but maybe that whole thing will????
