Ugh-I think we just started the toddler fear stage

I just spent the past hour and a half convincing Sabrina to get back in her crib after she screamed and flipped out that the crickets or cicadas were coming to get her. We "sprayed" for them, sent the cats to hunt them, DH pretended to go outside and get them and finally we closed the house up again and put the A/C back on and I had to reread all of her books and get her settled. She is now in her crib with a book (which I never let her do, but it is soothing her).

I hope this was a fluke and she is not afraid of the sounds of the bugs. We can't afford to keep the A/C on when it isn't necessary.

What about a CD player or a white noise machine? We have a small CD player in DSs room. He has CDs from music together and he selects the one he wants before he goes to sleep. It plays one rotation and then turns itself off. I think I got the CD player at Target for $25-30 two years ago.

Eric Carle has a very cute book called The Very Quiet Cricket. The last page makes cricket chirps. It may show her that crickets are friendly and are just talking to each other. CJ got the book for his bday and it's a favorite over here.
