ugh, i'm so disappointed

I had my biggest loser weigh in at work this morning and i didn't loose anything! i think i was even a pound more! i've been going to the gym 3-4 times a week, doing classes, the treadmill ...i've been eating better, not eating sweets as much. why do i bother! sorry to whine, but i'm so upset :( i think i need to just go on a crash diet and deprive myself of everything i like all together and run 5 miles every day!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

You might be building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat.

What I found works for me is incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet. Also, I pretty much stopped eating sweets, other than WW oatmeal raisin cookies...and I have/had a sweet tooth like no other!!!

Good luck!!!

Re: ugh, i'm so disappointed

I have been working out more and eating less sweets since the end of December to try to lose my last 10 lbs of baby weight. Well, I haven't lost any weight yet, but I was able to fit into a pair of old pants that did not fit me last month! I hope that gives you some motivation!

Awwwwwe it's totally understandable Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It IS disappointing when you work so hard and the scale doesn't reward you.

You know that crash dieting is not the way to go Chat Icon

ITA with the above posters. Just stick with it!!! Your hard work will show up! The scale is not the only way to measure success! You can do this!!!

The crash diets will only screw your system up later. Stick with it and it will pay off soon. Chat Icon

OK, This is important. Someone once told me this and it is soooooo true. Your body is like a checkbook- meaning that you wrote the check in the last week, it just hasn't been cashed yet. But it will cash... you will see that drop plus the drop of the next week at once- if you keep it up. The important thing is don't give up. When I am losing weight, it comes in big spurts when I least expect it. HTH!

you have probably built up your muscles and it def. weighs more than fat! I was very muscular pre pregnancy, now I am more chubby and I weigh exactly the same as I did before
eta I am very anti scale, I don't step on the scale to gauge how I'm doing. I just look at my muscle tone and how my clothes fit IE can I close my pants Chat Icon

Re: ugh, i'm so disappointed

don't be discouraged...I always gain when I first start working out...muscle weighs more than fat..so this could be the reason!

I just have to clarify something: Muscle does NOT weigh more than fat, but it is denser (same weight, but taking up less space) This is why you may weigh the same, but your clothes fit better.

To the OP: Don;t get discouraged by one week. You will see results if you stick to your routine!

Just stick with it! Instead of "not eating sweets as much", cut them out altogether - you wouldn't believe how fruit and yogurt, or nuts, or a Kashi granola bar can get you through snacktime. Try to avoid anything fried. Make sure you're drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day - when you don't, sometimes your body misinterprets thirst for hunger and you crave food, when really you just need a glass of water.

Sounds like your exercise is right on track - just try to get your eating there too, and you'll see results right away. Good luck! You can do it!
