UGH! Work Vent.
I swear! I wish my bosses would talk to one another, and us, rather than writing notes on our timesheets or e-mailing. I am getting contradictory instructions from 2 partners. And the worst part, this isn't even about lawyering. Its about entering our billing, which MOST firms have the secretary do.

What!!! Why are you entering your own time? It is such a waste of your day to do that!! Presumably you are billed out at $350 - $500 per hour and they have you entering time
As a summer we got .25 per day of office general billable time to enter our billing but as an associate all the secretaries enter time.

I enter the time for my partner, associates, etc. but they have to give it to me first. Actually most associates in my firm do it themselves.

I always enter my own time. Our firm has computerized software and it's more time-consuming and less efficient for me to write it or type it all out and then give it to my seretary to re-type into the program...

Oh god, I used to hate those conversations The very last meeting I was pulled into before I left the firm was one in which they discussed our new billing practices, and I was told to be more "creative" in my billing
So stupid - can you just go to each in person to clarify the issue?

Re: UGH! Work Vent.
I just went to the office manager type who deals wiht our billing. He is the one who sent me the e-mail from the other partner and asked him to clarify, because their instructions are contradictory. He cleared it up for me.
The funny thing, they do have someone who works part time doing the partner's billing. She spends most of her time here watching christian lectures on the internet and chatting with the employees. Why she can't do ours too is beyond me.

I guess since my old admin did the billing for years, she was more efficient at entering time. I cannot even tell you the billing program the firm used She even printed it for me to review before releasing it to accounting. I so miss her

We use a program too and I do the same thing with the attorneys that I work for.
