That is why I could never do Atkins. I have a better chance with self control than eliminating the carbs that you need to do in order for it to work.

Re: ughh fell off the atkins wagon this weekend

Any way of eating is really about self- control. I have done every diet in the book and really the only one I have been successful on is one where I could make it a way of life. I could not do that with Atkins. I did do South Beach and Atkins at different times to jump start my weight loss. They were both difficult for the long haul. I hope that once you have gotten a jump start, you will switch to a way of eating that can work for you for life. Sorry if this offends anyone, just speaking from my experiences . . . Best of Luck!

You would probably be more successful starting and sticking to the plan you intend to follow. Atkins isn't a crash diet and you are most likely going to lose a few pounds the first week you start any new restricted/controlled meal plan.

Self control is hard but if you really want to lose the weight you gotta learn to be strong.

I am doing low carb, not atkins but I cut out sugar, soda, bread, pasta, and rice.

I eat tons of veggies, salad, chicken, fish, steak etc.

I have been on this plan for 5 weeks and I am down 7.4lbs. I just started excersizing last week.

My clothing is starting to feel loose too which is awesome.

I also feel more energized.

Atkins is not a crash diet, but it does do one thing- It helps rid your body of cravings.

I have been a successful WW for over a year now and have lost 32 pounds. I started with atkins induction because I have always found that going from my normal eating to WW was extremely difficult for me. By doing the 2 week induction of atkins or South Beach, I was able to go into the WW plan without feeling hungry and deprived. After cutting carbs out, my appetite was smaller, my cravings less, and it made it possible for me to successfully begin WW and stick with it.

Cutting out carbs altogether is not a reasonable expectation for life. But it does have a place with the workings of the body and really can help ease you into cutting back on what you eat.

I am glad that worked for you and congrats on the awsome success!!

I can't switch like that plus I am utterly miserable doing WW. And by extension, so is everyone around me...LOL

I like atkins because it does offer a larger variety over the long term then I would ever get with WW. The plan does not call for cutting out all carbs forever, just refined overly processed ones like sugar, white flour, etc. The further you get into the plan the more you can eat in terms of fruits and grains.

I think I misunderstood what you were getting at- it seemed you were making a point that using low-carb to get started was a wrong move and I was defending it with my personal experience.

You are right - not every plan works for every individual, and Atkins is a great way to eat in the later phases since it cuts out a lot of foods that contain
c r a p.

Good Luck with your efforts!

I think Atkins is very restrictive. I follow a lower carb diet. Basically, I stay away from countable carbs. But I also try to eat leaner meats. This way, when I do have those moments or occasions where I want something other than grilled chicken or a slice of cheese, I can have it and it doesn't derail my entire diet.

I have had great success with this.
