Ughhhhhh...it's my birthday tomorrow and I feel guilty..

Backround: SAHM, 4th neighborhood in a year, no family around, DH works long crazy hours.

This morning, Leo gets up excited, tells me that he arranged a way to have my birthday off(I am big into b-days). I said great! He says what do you want to do?

Well, I was going to take my b-day money and disappear. I think it was maybe 2 months ago when the baby was just fed and asleep, I snuck out to the grocery store. That was my last outting.

He looked shocked, he said oh okay, sounds good. You can tell I knocked the air out of his chest.

So, I felt like a complete a-hole, called him at work and said I was just testing him to see if he really wanted the day to be about me, he passed, so let's go to the Biltmore since I have wanted to go for awhile now. complete lie, well, I do want to go to the Biltmore...but ughhhhh, way to make me feel bad. skiing and biking. now he is going to start marathon training.

what would you have done? did I fall right into his trap?

Wow, we are so alike I would have done the same exact thing. Maybe you can do both tomorrow? Go out by yourself early, then spend the day with your two favorite men?

If DH took off for my birthday I would def wnat to spend the day with the whole family but do something that we both would enjoy.

Ok, can I just add a random question...why do men always plan things THEY want to do on OUR birthdays?
For example, my good friend's birthday is next week, I got an evite to go see Alien 3 for her birthday, and when I called her husband to ask if that's what she wanted to do, he didn't know, he just figured since he wanted to go, she would, too. (not that this entirely pertains to your situation, Janice, sorry to hijack!)

Well look at it this way, now you will have a 2 day long celebration. One day with DH and DS, and then one day to yourself. I hope you have a wonderful b-day Janice!

I agree, BUT I would still try to find some alone time (whether its in the morning or another day- you know extend the birthday!!)

thanks for the b-day wishes! I am really excited to be going tomorrow...it sounds a lot better to reflect on 29 and say it was at the biltmore with my fam rather then running away from loved ones for the day

Last night at like 3:30 in the morning, DH stopped off at the store to get a ton of non dairy non soy products to picnic with. The day is going to be perfect.

He got me a Sirius radio for my car...exactly what I needed.

It's hard for me to say because I am not a SAHM, so I get out of the house every day for work. But, is there another day that he is off where you can escape? Like his weekend days (I know they are not technically on the weekend, though) where you can go shopping, go for lunch or whatever?
