UGH....really bad sleep night last night, what do you think is going on?
So DD has always been a relatively good sleeper, mainly STTN unless teething etc... Last night I put her down about a half hour earlier than I normally do bc she seemed really really tired ( I alway stick to a schedule to the second, so this may have thrown her off???) We put her down she wakes up fully awake at 945 and won't go down to bed unless I hold her, normally she'll just let me come in sooth her and she'll be fine...Then at 3 am she wakes up and is hysterically crying and will not go back unless i hold her again and the second I put her down she starts screaming again...She has NEVER been like that, I have never had to hold her in the middle of the night to get her back to sleep...She's 8.5 mos and she's hit some major milestones lately... So I'm thinking it may be a few things A. a growth spurt B. her schedule was off C.Teething (her drool has been on the up and up for a few days, and it tapered off after she got her bottom teeth, so I'm thinking maybe she's getting her top teeth in)
Oyyyyy I was up with her from 3 to like 4:30 and then she slept until 7 and is now down for a nap bc she is beyond exhausted from her lack of sleep...
Anyone experience this or think they may know what it is...

The ONLY time my DD did that (and she did the EXACT same thing) was when she started cutting a tooth. She woke up screaming hysterically and the only thing that calmed her down was me holding her. Once her tooth cut she went right back to normal.

I know when she was cutting her bottom teeth she was like that, but that was at the point that I felt the tooth coming out already, and I can't feel anyting yet on her gums

My DD did it right before the tooth cut. I couldn't feel anything yet........it just looked like a swollen white bump in her gums. The tooth cut through about 2 or so days later.

oy im going to check when she wakes up from her nap! Even when she was cutting the bottom two I wouldn't have to hold her though I would just need to soothe her
I should add, she's been going through major separation anxiety lately...I can't leave the room to do the dishes without her whining...

Re: UGH....really bad sleep night last night, what do you think is going on?
A few thoughts...
1) Teething 2) About to reach a major milestone (Alex always had interrupted sleep a few days before a HUGE burst in development) 3) Growth spurt (in which case, though, she'd be hungry) 4) Ear infection
Either way, I'd take her to the pediatrician just in case. Almost everytime Alex behaved that way during the night it turned out she had an ear infection. Babies with ear infections are usually fine during the day, but writhe around in pain at night because it hurts more when they lay down. If she's had a cold recently, it's very possible it's an ear infection brewing If you take her to the doctor and there's no infection, then you can chalk it up to 1, 2, or 3

I agree with Bxgell2. It turns out........on top of my DD cutting a tooth (which started on a Tuesday night) she got a cold along with that and by Thursday when I took her to the ped. she also had an ear infection. I would take her to the ped to be sure.

ITA. The only time DS did this was with ear infections as well. Hang in there and get some rest today!

thanks! Does an ear infection have fever associated with it, bc she doesn't have a fever, and she's napping ok too....

I wonder this too-- DD has been doing the same thing your DD is doing for like 5 or 6 days now and she is constantly pulling at her ears. The doc said her ears looked fine last week when I brought her there though.
