Re: Ultra- Screen.....
yes. it's also called 1st trimester combo screening or triple screening or nuchal fold/nuchal translucency test. they do a sonogram and measure the folds of skin at the back of the baby's neck and they also do a finger prick blood test. it's just a screening test. it won't tell you 100% if baby has downs or trisomy 18. if your results come back not so good they will probably suggest that you have an amnio so you can know for sure.

Re: Ultra- Screen.....
i had it done probably more because i wanted to have a sonogram! otherwise the only time i would have a sono was 20 weeks and i thought that was too long to wait. i wasn't high risk and i would have had the baby even if i found out it had downs, but if there was something wrong with the baby i would have wanted to be prepared. i think most of the girls on here have had it done.

Re: Ultra- Screen.....
I had it done at 12 weeks. I was not given a choice but I read you don't have to have it but we did. The sono was soooo cool!!!

Re: Ultra- Screen.....
Diane I had it done. It was very important for me because I was basing the results from the Ultrascreen and Level II on if I'd have the amnio or not.I didnt want the amnio and my dr and I agreed that if the results from these two tests and the blood work were all ok, then I didnt have to have the amnio. Plus, it was great to be able to see the baby.

Re: Ultra- Screen.....
I think I had this done at 18 weeks- blood tests & then the ultrasound, right? I get confused with all the different tests.

Re: Ultra- Screen.....
I had it done at 12 weeks. They did a sono, measuring the neck folds and drew blood. I have to go back between 16-17 weekd for more blood so they can compare the two numbers and give me the odds of the babies having Down's etc. My prei recommended it because of the ICSI procedure.

Re: Ultra- Screen.....
I decided not to have this done for a variety of reasons. My SIL had a false positive and it scared her beyond belief, I don't have any history on each side of our families, I'm still under 35, and I wouldn't have an aminio regardless of what it showed. This was a personal decision for us and I am very happy with it.

Re: Ultra- Screen.....
I just went yesterday for this. I had the sonogram, then they took blood, they just pricked my finger and needed 5 drops.
