UltraRunning
Has anyone ever heard of this? I was just watching a special on VS Versus TV on ultrarunning. They were running a 100 mile marathon - the winner finished in just over 16 hours!
It's pretty incredible what these people can do! I guess I have to training to do before I can enter one of these races
and if anyone is interested... UltraRunning

Re: UltraRunning
It's incredible. I can't even imagine!! I did a regular marathon & it completely kicked my azz... I can't imagine how a person can complete an ultra. It would kill me!!
ETA: I was telling some people I know about ultramarathons & they flat out refused to believe that someone would actually run that far!! I told them, look it up, it's real!!

Re: UltraRunning
I've run many marathons and not once did I ever feel the inclination to run even 2 steps further than the 26.2 miles. Heck I get pizzed that they make you walk like another 1/4 mile after the NYCM to go pick up your clothes!

I completely agree!
It always makes me think of the ultramarathoner Dean Karnazes:
Running 100 miles nonstop is not twice as demanding as running 50 miles; it's four or five times more difficult.
i feel this way about half marathons and full marathons...i can't imagine what 50 miles is like...I don't want to!
If anyone is interested...this article is pretty interesting...only 9 people have finished EVER!

Re: UltraRunning
I think its really amazing. I'm jealous that there are people out there that can do that. With my knee, I'm lucky if I'll ever run another half again, let alone a full. It has to take true time and dedication.

ha ha, I thought the same thing. Then it took me another 45 minutes to hail a cab....torture!!!
Ultras are amazing, I just don't think my body is meant to do that though lol

Re: UltraRunning
ultrarunners are so freakin' unbelievable- i mean, the physical aspect alone is crazy hard... but the mental! whoa!
mentally staying with a run for like 15+ hours
its a level of dedication that i admire so much!!
