ultrascreen/AFP test- confused about something
I had a nuchal at 12 weeks- sono and blood work. OB told me that secodn part doen at 16 weeks. so at 16 weeks appt, they took blood, and nurse said, oh, its for secodn part of ultrascreen. and I saw lab form, going to same lab that did nuchal, specialized place. does this also include the AFP/neural tube defect screening? cuz i remember they did that around then with DD

Re: ultrascreen/AFP test- confused about something
Yes most likely. They use the results from the 16w bloodwork and integrate with your results from the 12w u/s and bloodwork results. Then they will prob give you updated ratio numbers based on the combined results. Typically the 16w bloodwork is testing for neural tube defects/deficiencies (a quadscreen that includes AFP)
This is what it was for me at least!
