Ultrascreen question
I need to set up my appt for my ultrascreen and I'm freaking out a little. I am totally fine with needles and getting my blood taken, but they gave me this kit where I have to prick my own finger and send blood samples to the hospital before the ultrascreen. I know I won't be able to pull the trigger on the "finger pricker"
Did anyone else have to do this? Am I nuts ?

Re: Ultrascreen question
I've never heard of this. I don't think I'd be able to push the trigger either Can your DH do it or a friend or family member?

Re: Ultrascreen question
DH said he'd try, but I don't know if I'd rather him do it or me myself....either way, I don't want to do it.

Re: Ultrascreen question
You have to send it in 10 days prior to Ultrascreen and then you get all the results while you're there.

Re: Ultrascreen question
I never heard of this do-it-yourself method! When I went for my Ultrascreen, they did the sono and then THEY pricked my finger and took my blood. Ask to go to another place to have it done.
ETA: they took my blood, had it tested and my dr had the results within 3-4 days.

Re: Ultrascreen question
I'm with you. I'd rather have regular blood taken with a needle than to have to prick my own finger.

Re: Ultrascreen question
I just had my ultrascreen yesterday. I did the DIY method for the blood test, it's not so bad. They had to do it over again at the office yesterday anyway. Thank God, everything looks to be OK.

Re: Ultrascreen question
I am 12.5 weeks. It is my understanding that you can only to a ultrascreen between 11.5-13.5 weeks for the test to be accurate. How far along are you?

Re: Ultrascreen question
I am the biggest baby EVER and faint at the sight of blood and have been pricking my finger 4 times a day for the past month and a half. Believe me- If I can do it you can too. Good luck!
