umbilical hernia
anyone know more about this?? it's been really tender to touch right above my belly button and when i touch it there's something hard there.
i went to the doctor today and he said it's an umbilical hernia. he didn't give me much info and he told me not to worry about it. i need more facts and i'm having a hard time finding any.
tia!!

Re: umbilical hernia
yup..I know alllllll about it...
my two gave me one..and I did not even get big! I gained 41 pounds--and I got it early.. hate to say--most of the weight is gone and my fugly hernia is still fugly. U basically do nothing unless u get extreme pain with nausea and a fever. That means it can be icarcerated and requires immed surgery prego or not.. do not lift anything heavy anymore. I didnt even lift laundry baskets. Sometimes it goes back in... if u push it and u can send it back in its usually ok. if not..u need surgery later on-like in my case. I thought they fix it during c section. Doc said noway... you do it later on. Ii did find out though--if u do it after u lose the baby weight u basically get a tummy tuck when they do it. Any questions Im here with my hernia...
oh! when it hurts really darn bad==use a tubetop over it to hold it on.

jeannine, thanks for taking the time for that thorough response. i know your time is tight lately!!
i haven't gained that much weight (considering twins) yet either and i'm 29 weeks, so i was surprised by it. of course EVERYTHING seems to be at the height of it, the kitchen sink, the counter, the bathroom vanity. it's really uncomfortable!!

Re: umbilical hernia
omg..so true... I remember my belly being really tender and washing the dishes! u know the tube top thingie they give u to hold the fetal monitor on? ask them for one--and wear that to hold in your hernia--thats what they gave me. If they do not give u one tell me--I will send u mine--I can't use them now.
