Um...does anyone else....um....well...
...hide the really good junk food for themselves and not divulge it's existence to the children?
DH and I have a cabinet in our kitchen that is full of cookies, yodels, ding dongs, easy cheese, chips, chocolate...etc
We hide these items and will take out an occasional package of yodels for the kids and put it in their cabinet...
The kids cabinet is suppose to be the snack cabinet. (It contains Nutrigrain Bars, Fruitsnacks, Mini muffins, a plethora of cereal, etc) The children are unaware of what is behind door #2. They do have access to door #2 but they have never thought to open it and see what's inside.
DH and I find it somewhat amusing that they have never had the desire to open up the corner cabinet and see what's inside. I guess it's only a matter of time...at which point Im sure DH and I will have to find another hiding spot...

I am sorry but this just cracked me up. My dh and I both got home early and had lunch together and got a black white cookie. I told my dh we should save it for te kids and he was like, no they can eat a nutrigrain bar. LOL But mostly we try not to keep that much junk in the house cause I have no self control.

We have a top shelf which is our 'junk shelf'...SD has no idea about what is up there and DH is the only one who can even reach it (he's 6'5)

My parents did this to us, but we knew it was in their closet upstairs. We had to ask for goodies.
My mom didn't want us eating them all in one day, so she would keep them for herself and slowly bring down anything she wanted to share.

Oh yeah...the good stuff here is hidden at the back of the top shelf of the pantry...located in the basement in a room they never go in...with a light switch that's too high for them to reach.

I'm trying not to buy so much junk for their sake and mine.
DH and I don't have a separate cabinet for "our" junk, but I do dip into theirs. I must look ridiculous eating Fruit By the Foot and Gushers...

I actually try to USE my kids to establish better eating habits for myself (time they made themselves useful, I say): whatever food I bring into the house is only something I would be comfortable to give them. Well, except for my little indulgence called Riesling. 
I do slip sometimes, like during PMS when I have the need for a few slices of salami...

I'm the opposite, I buy all the snacks for the kids that I don't like so I don't eat them. Sounds smart right- NO it's not because I make a 7-11 run everyday for a candy bar or krispy kream donut  I have such a horrible sweet tooth.
