Umm.. is being a clutz a part of pregnancy?
I took a spill today off a curb across the street from my SIL's house. We were picking up my nephews and MIL to go to the Bronx Zoo. I twisted my ankle, but didn't think anything of it, as the pain seemed to have subsided for a bit. By the time we got the Zoo and saw one exhibit, I was in excrutiating pain, so we ended up getting me a wheel chair because I couldn't even walk. We took the boys home and off the ER we went. Thankfully, no fracture, but it's severely sprained. I'm in a bandage and an air cast splint. Of course it's my right foot, so I'm so unbalanced now. They gave me crutches, but said I should use them very sparingly because they don't want me to take a fall on them (which I know I WILL). So, I'm to stay off my foot for 3 days. Of course taking just Tylenol does jack shyt for it!
I can't imagine getting anymore clutzier than I already am.

Yes it is! And you're not alone!
Sorry you got hurt as a result.
At nearly 6 months, I'm also dropping things and bumping into table corners more than usual. :(

Totally is!!!! I was at an engagement party yesterday and I must've tripped over my own feet 3 or 4 times....and then to top it all off, I twisted my ankle on the concrete next to the pool and came very close to falling in---one of my cousins grabbed me just in time. 
So, you're definitely NOT alone! Hope you feel better soon.

michellle, i am so sorry!! please take care of yourself and yes, being a klutz is totally a part of pregnancy - it's a miracle i haven't ended up in the ER myself yet

yep it is..... I took a spill last month (off the edge of a curb) and injured both ankles......
Medical reason for it? here it goes:
relaxin hormone loosens our joints (prepping for the birthing process)... it makes our ankles, knees, and hips (along with all other joints) more wobbly
Also, our proprioception is off (our brains and bodies are not accustomed to the re-distribution of weight and loose joints, so the unconcious movements we make to keep ourselves upright and balanced are not always right anymore)

I am sorry you had such a bad spill. It apparently is, as I fell out of bed this morning & ended upon all fours. I am still debating if I should go to the doctor later.
I fell last PG too!

Yup, and I'm naturally not very balanced! It doesn't help that it is my right foot either. I'm a complete spaz with the crutches especially with no sense of balance, and going to the bathroom has become quite the chore because of it.
Now I'm starving, can't get to the kitchen and DH is sound asleep snoring away next to me.
Although, I will say, that my trip to the ER wasn't so awful because as soon as my husband said I was pregnant I was pretty much seen right away. Plus we got to hear the little one's heartbeat again

The lady at the first aid station at the zoo yesterday told me that with a bad sprain and being pregnant there is a great chance for blood clots. I forgot to ask the ER doctor about it yesterday so I want to talk to my Dr. today.

My clumsiness has gotten WORSE as the pregnancy progresses. I have bruises all over me and have no idea how I got them.
