Now, according to NYS, cleaning products and hand soap has to have the 'green' label on them. Or something like that. I think anti-bacterial soap is a no-no. Which is fine for me at home. We don't use any anti-bacterial stuff at home and we use green cleaning products, but what do I do with all 20 bottles of soap my parents donated??? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm so confused. Chat Icon

I read it in our weekly memo but then when I googled NYS school cleaning products, I found out more.

If they want green soap, then THEY need to find a way to budget and pay for it. I'll continue using the soap I have until someone else buys it for me.

ok seriously its a lil ridiculous to post and request that now that the school year has already started and if you requested soap from the supply list parents already bought it. Its a struggle enough to get the parents to buy all the supplies you request much less for specific kinds. Plus I imagine "green" soap is more expensive, so im not sure how thats going to flyChat Icon

i think this is funny. i would love to do it. but i had to ask my parents to send in soap because my school doesn't supply it. i have gotten about 15 bottles of generic hand soap and i'm not about to dump it and go out and spend money on green soap. if only the city or state thought it was important enough to supply soap for our children to wash their hands. then they could set whatever standard they wanted to. how can the state pretend to care about this when they obviously don't think it's important enough to supply.

In my school (NYC) we always keep bottle of our OWN soap in the ladies- otherwise, we usually have NO soap! Chat Icon

Can you maybe buy one bottle and keep refilling it with the ones the parents brought?

Is this too sneaky?

Great idea!!! Seriously, I had a mom yesterday give me, NO JOKE, about 8 bottles of Bath and Body works soap!!! Chat Icon I'm not tossing that stuff and yeah, when you ask parents for a donation of soap, I totally expect the dollar store stuff.

Probably. Still, love that stuff despite it being anti-bacterial. It just bugs me that we aren't told this AFTER we get supplies, whether donations from parents OR bought on our own. Chat Icon

That is kind of funny!

Sometimes we don't even have soap. Often times we buy soap and stock the bathrooms ourself because otherwise it can be disgusting.

I heard this on friday as well. I told my para that the Lysol wipes bottle is the color green. That's good enough for me. Are they really going to check??? Don't they have better things to do?
