Um...when am I supposed to start thinking of REAL shoes? She's walking w/ a walker toy now
My lil' muffin is growing up too fast....
she's been getting REALLY good with her Walking Push toy thingy and now I am wondering when I have to drive to the mall to get REAL shoes for her feet.

They are better off in bare feet in the beginning. I got them Robeez to wear when they started walking on their own. I just bought them their first walking shoes on Monday. They have been walking for 2 months.

daycare told me that Sydney was slipping there with her robeez. I took her to stride right and I got her the stage 2 shoes which are for cruisers.

Barefoot is always best. I don't put shoes on Miranda at home and she's been cruising for a while and walking for about 2 weeks on her own but gettng pretty good at it. I bought her walking shoes after she started on her own but they are for when we go out (mainly because she pulls her socks off). I would say skip spending the money now and wait until she really needs them. She could grow out of them and you'd have to start all over.

I would also say to hold off on buying official shoes now. They are so expensive, and I truely believe that at this age and stage of walking you should always buy stride-rite --- so that they are good quality and properly fitting --- and at around $40-50 a pop it's something that can wait until she's walking for real, IMO.
I do think it's good to put soft-soled shoes on her when you are out, like robeez, and I got some inexpensive pairs of them at Target for around $9/pair.
Once she's walking for real I'd invest in some good walking shoes, and then just put them on when you're out and about and her feet need more protection. WHen you're home I'd stick with barefoot or slipper socks.

As soon as Julia started walking at her 1st b-day, I went out with DH and got her walking shoes (stride rite) has the best walking shoes, and I wanted her in them right away! At home she would walk barefoot, but she took to walking very fast so I wanted to make sure when we were out she had them on.

I have been told not to buy real shoes until 6 weeks after they start walking. I don't plan to buy Noah any too soon because its better for their feet to develop in bare feet. But shoes are calling me, they want me to buy them...but I resist.
