Under 2 years old moms- Does anyone's child NOT have a comfort need?
Like bottles, pacifier, or a special toy or blanket they MUST have? I really do want to wean DD from her last two bottles but they really are her only source of comfort- she doesn't have a paci, or suck her thumb or have a comfort toy. I feel like a meany taking it away- other than teeth which my doc said not to worry about since she brushes her teeth after bottles- there really isn't a reason to take them away.
Please discuss....

Re: Under 2 years old moms- Does anyone's child NOT have a comfort need?
Emily doesn't use anything necessarily. She has a few baby dolls that she hugs and cuddles with, and sometimes asks to take into her crib with her, but nothing consistant. She did sleep with one doll exclusively for a very long time but usually just likes to sleep on her own now.
She does have a small pillow and uses two thin blankets when she sleeps, but we change them about once a week for washings so she doesn't necessarily only sleep with one type.
She has been off of the bottle sinc about 15 mos, off of the paci since 1 year...
I think WE are her biggest source of comfort. She gets lots of hugs from mommy and daddy!

Leah doesn't have anything she is attached to. She has her blankets & baby in her crib, but when she stays with MIL, she is fine without them.

josh never took a bottle, rejected the pacifier at 2 1/2 months, and doesn't have a blankie. he loves many of stuffed animals but doesn't favor any of them.

Lily is 15 months and she loves a lot of her toys....but there isn't really anything she can't live without. She's stopped taking a pacifier on her own at around 6 months. Her only vice is that list nighttime bottle....we have to figure out how to get rid of that one.

Neither DC had a "lovie" or comfort need. They both liked their pacis, but never fought us when we took them away.... no favorite blankets, animals, toys, etc.

Ale is also still on 2 bottles. She'll be 15 mos on the 10th. She takes a paci once in a while, but doesn't have a special toy or blanket.
It is hard trying to give up those 2 bottles. I tried a sippy cup and she wanted no part of it.
I feel like, she is still my baby...what's the rush?

Bryan is not really attached to anything. He does have a bunny and a bear in his crib, but, they stay there. He'll cuddle with them for a few mins at nap and bed time, but, he doesn't carry them around the house or take them out of the house.

DS is 16 months and doesn't have anything he needs. He's been off bottles since 12 months and we cut out the binky at the same time. He sleeps with a stuffed animal at home, but we rotate which one and he sleeps at daycare without one.

Re: Under 2 years old moms- Does anyone's child NOT have a comfort need?
Lucas didn't have any type of comfort or lovie before I took the bottle away. I guess I should say I pushed it on him...when I took the pm bottle away and sat with him to have his sippy I had a teddy bear with us...he went to bed holding the teddy and has done so since...only for bed thankfully. At daycare he has a different puppy doll and the teachers tell me he holds on tight to his lovie when he goes down for his nap.

Not really. She has a favorite stuffed animal, but she can take it or leave it. It was left at daycare this past Friday for the whole weekend and she never missed it.
She is attached to her evening bottle, but we are making progress with getting her completely off bottles.

Same here. It does make life easier that she's not attatched to an animal/blanket that I would fear losing.

Re: Under 2 years old moms- Does anyone's child NOT have a comfort need?
Hannah had no attachments HOWEVER once I took her last bottle away she did start taking her sippy cup with water to bed with her. So I guess now she's attached to that. SHe calls it her baba. Since its water I have no issue with it.

ITA - here too - she likes several dolls/stuff animals but nothing she is attached to. She doesn't suck her thumb, take a paci etc. Really the only thing that she likes early in the morning are her bottles.
