Unemployment question job moving
I just found out that my job will be moving from garden city into NYC. My current commute is ~40 miles, this move would make my commute ~60 miles, on top of making my commute 2 hours each way. Would I qualify for unemployment? Is there a law regarding a job moving and distance?
I obviously will call dept of labor but thought I'd ask here for now. I'm still in a state of shock a bit.

Unemployment question job moving
I don't know for sure but probably not as unemployment is for those who can't find a job. I'm not sure that they would categorize willingly leaving your job due to distance as not being able to find a job

Not necessarily. You can quit your job and collect under specific circumstances.
OP, I know when my last company relocated a portion of one office from W Babylon to Patchogue that people qualified for unemployment when they didn't make the move. The commute was the reason.
NYS also found my commute of 2+hours each way when my husband relocated for work was an acceptable reason to leave my job
I think it may be hit or miss for you, but people HAVE claimed unemployment when refusing to relocate
