UPDATE 4/16: I GOT A JOB!!!!!
I just got an offer from a place that I was praying for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a little less $$$ than where I was, but I'm going to be SO happy there. I'm so excited!!!!!
I'm also a little confused though, b/c I'm going to finish up the interviews I started and the other one is a place that I've got a good chance with and the money is really good but its all the corporate b.s. that i'm not sure i want to go back to.
the job i love is a $4K pay cut. the job that is corporate (that I don't have yet so maybe I'm getting ahead of myself) is $8K more than I was making at the place I got laid off from. How important is money to you? I am 100 percent sure i'll be happy at the less money place. i'm not 100 percent sure about the more money place and my experience in the corporate world is not good.
UPDATE: So I went on the second interview for the other, more money place. SO confused!!! I really liked the guy. Completely different from my beyotch boss where I was. The man who heads up the office is great and my would be boss in the UK has been super nice and understanding when I explained my current situation to her. The informally event said something about an offer. First when I asked how many people are in the NY office he counts then goes "and it would be you, me..." then at the end he says "well, I'm going to recommend you to Anna (that's the woman in the UK would be my boss) and hopefully we can have an offer to you by Friday."
SECOND UPDATE, 4/16: I finished up with the more $$$ place with a telephone interview with someone in the UK. I made up my mind regardless to stick to the job I got b/c I know I'll be happy here but I'm pretty sure I won't get the more $$$ place now. Turns out this guy knows my ex-boss, the biggest beyotch crazy person in the world and I would bet that he'll call her and she'll bad mouth me, as she did to another company already. It just stinks b/c I cannot prove it.... Oh well, I know I'm gonna be happy here so that's all that matters!!!!! My boss invited me in on Friday for coffee and pastries to go over stuff and then I start on Monday. woo hoo!!!
Trying not to count those chickens though. but boy am i confused.

I was laid off in March  I would take the job you know you will be happy at, if you can afford the pay cut. Go with your gut feelings. HTH

$4k over a year you wont even feel and after a time when your great work is noticed im sure you'll get a raise or bonus of some sort come holidays! i'd prefer to be happy over anything else! cause when you're miserable at your job, no amount of money will make you want to stay!

Happiness is way more important that $$$, as long as you can live on the $$ being offered.
Could i be making 10k more if i left my job? Probably... Would i have the freedom, amazing co-workers, flexible schedule that i have now? Almost certainly not. And thats why i stay  Happiness is so much more important

4K is not much at all...how's the entire package? Vacation, benefits etc....you can easily make up the 4k that way!

from the time i wrote this post until now, i've made up my mind (although like i said, i don't have that second offer at the moment). regardless of the higher paying job, if i get it, i'm sticking with the one I got b/c I know I'm going to LOVE it. I love love love my boss. such a nice guy!!!!
Benefits are decent, it's a teeny company. He pays my insurance in full. It's only 7 vaca days the first year (I think) but he extends all of the paid holidays. Like for example, he'll make Labor Day a 4 day weekend instead of a 3, etc., but he does it with every holiday unless things are crazy in the office. Unlimited sick days, though I'm not one to call out sick unless I actually am.
Thanks guys!!! I'm so excited, I start on Monday!!!! Still going to the interview with the other place tomorrow though, just didn't think it was right to cancel at the last minute.

Wow that was fast. Congratulations. I am glad you found something you are going to be really happy at. Lets face it happiness is way more important then the money to me.

Congratulations!!!!!! So happy for you!!!
As for your decision, I would stick with the job that you know you have and that you'll be happy at. I wouldn't risk my happiness for $$, esp since you don't have an offer yet. Think about it this way, the place where you know you'll be happy, you can always get a raise down the line.

While money is important, I think, scratch that, I know I would take the job that's 4K less.
You can't put a price tag on your emotional well being if you ask me.
Congrats!!
Now pass on those vibes to me, b/c right now I'm PRAYING big time I get this job that I applied for but the process is slower than a snail!!!
