UPDATE AT BOTTOM: Further proof why it's always important to get a 2nd opinion!
Some of you know my story, but for those that don't, to be brief... my OB/GYN was VERY quick to diagnose me with PCOS without even running any tests (other than bloodwork). She immediately put me on Fertily Meds and sent me on my way. I've had to deal with a VERY unprofessional and nasty office too.
I decided to get a 2nd opinon and fell in love with this new doctor, who told me to stop taking the fertilty meds (I'd only done one month of them) and she wanted to get further blood work and have me do an ultrasound so she can rule out or determine that I do in fact have PCOS.
Well.......... I JUST NOW came back from my ultrasound and EVERYTHING IS PERFECT! No signs that I have or had PCOS. I have one more test (Friday) that I am NOT looking forward to. But I'm 98% sure now that the problems have just been my body taking time to regulate after being on the pill.

That's great news! I mean it's terrible about the first doctor, but at least now you know the root of your troubles. It took me at least 6 months to regulate after being on the pill (very long cycles and one anovulatory) and I wasn't TTC at that time so I can imagine how difficult this is for you. But it did work itself out as it will do for you. Good luck to you and DH

Oh, I am so sorry that you had to deal with incompetence from your first doctor. On the flip side, I am glad you found a doctor who is able to treat you the way you deserve to be treated - with time, dignity and respect. You must be so relieved!!! Lots of !!!!

I'm glad you got a second opinion. Unfortunately, PCOS is a quick diagnosis that a lot of doctors give without really doing all the proper tests to come to that conclusion.

Re: Further proof why it's always important to get a 2nd opinion!
That is great news!!!! I too went through a bunch of tests and they said I had PCOS. I went on the medication for 6 months and just got sicker. I kept begging the doctors to help me because I was uneasy with my diagnosis. After a year and a half of testing and pushing my doctors to their limits, they finally found out that the PCOS was actually an EFFECT of my hormonal problems, NOT THE CAUSE. Once they began treating my cause I began to get much better immediately. Within a few months we got the okay to TTC and a few months later we got our BFP!!!!!!!!
So glad you went for a second opinion!! I can't tell you the amount of specialists I saw over the past 2 years. I never gave up hope. And never stop listening to what your body is telling you!!

Re: Further proof why it's always important to get a 2nd opinion!
Michele...i am soo happy for you! What good news for you guys!!
your story sounds like mine! We were going to try and and concieve so i went to an OB and she diagnosed me with PCOS based on my inconsistent periods, etc, she wanted to start me on fertility meds, so i decided to go get a 2nd opinion and my current OB (i stayed with her now that i am preggos) told me and my DH to try natural for 6 months first before going on to meds, based on my normal bloodwork and inconsistent sono (she saw possible folicles/cysts but it was inconclusive) she wasnt 100% sure i even had the PCOS and that TTC would be an issue, , well she was right and we got preggos on the 1st try, so doctors def dont always know, if i had not gone for a second opinon who knows if i would even be pregnant yet!

UPDATE AT BOTTOM. Re: Further proof why it's always important to get a 2nd opinion!
Thanks everyone! It just really irks me that doctors can and do get away with treating paitents that way. The OB I had been seeing just turned so nasty and unprofessional.
Mini update: When we went for the 2nd opinion, the doctor said do not take the meds (provera and clomid) and assured me that yes, my AF will come on it's own and to just give it time. A week later (on CD43) AF showed up (much better than last time CD88!) HOWEVER... I'm on CD8 now and AF is still here in fact, she seems to be getting heavier (sorry, TMI) instead of leaving town. I am scheduled for a HSG on Friday (scared sh!tless about it too!) but because AF is still here will need to reschedule for next cycle (unless of course I get preggers).
Now here's the strange part (at least to me it is). I am using the CBEFM this month and for the first cycle it asks for a test beginning CD6, so yesterday and the day before it was showing low fertility, but today on CD8 even with a heavy AF, it's showing High Fertility. How is that possible? DH is out of town on business so I hope and pray that my peak fertility isn't until he gets home Friday. But I find it strange nonetheless

I think I read on Babycenter.com an answer to a question regarding getting pregnant while still having AF and it answered that it is possible.....let me try to find it.

Re: UPDATE AT BOTTOM: Further proof why it's always important to get a 2nd opinion!
This is what I read:
Question: Can you get pregnant during your period?
Answer: It's possible — but highly unlikely. You'd have to have a very short menstrual cycle, which is the time from the first day of one period to the first day of the next period, or a tendency to have long periods. This would bring the time of ovulation closer to the time when you would start bleeding.
Conception occurs when an egg and sperm meet in a fallopian tube. Sometime during the middle of your menstrual cycle, most likely between the 12th and 16th days, an egg reaches maturity in one of the two ovaries. The ovary releases the egg into the abdomen, where it's quickly sucked up by the tulip-shaped opening of the nearest fallopian tube.
An egg can survive in your fallopian tube for about 24 hours after it's released from the ovary. So the only way you can get pregnant is if sperm are present in your fallopian tube during this window of opportunity. If the egg isn't fertilized, it's shed along with your uterine lining during your period.
Typically, when you have your period, another egg is developing in preparation for release during the current cycle. But not every woman's cycle length is the same. Many women have a cycle that's about 28 days long, but some have cycles as short as 22 days long. If you have a shorter cycle, you could ovulate just a few days after you have your period. And considering that sperm can survive in your reproductive tract for up to three days, it's theoretically possible for the sperm to hang around until you ovulate again.
It's also possible to mistake breakthrough bleeding — spotting between your periods — for a regular period. So you may be bleeding right at the time of ovulation, when you're most fertile.
The time that it takes for an egg to develop, or mature, within the ovary can vary, and therefore, the actual day of ovulation can vary by several to many days. Some ovulation kits also base the "fertile time" on rising estrogen levels rather than the peak of luteinizing hormone, or LH, which is the actual trigger for egg release. In those situations the "fertile time" may seem to be longer
