UPDATE: Coffee Mug
Someone in my office stole my coffee mug. I put it next to the sink filled with soapy water before lunch. When I came back it was missing. I'm very angry. This mug had sentimental value. Who steals a mug filled with dirty, soapy water?
2/18/09: So, I was in the break room when one of my co-workers (lunching with the person who threw my mug in the trash) asked if I ever found my mug. When I told her I found it in the trash, the person who threw it out said: "Well, I guess you better start watching it (the mug)." Excuse me? She has now lied twice to my face. I am almost 99.9% accurate it was her because 1.) she is the office manager and 2.) she has thrown other dishes away in the past for being next to the sink for what she felt was too long.
All I can say is that I'm happy I have it back and I'll never leave it next to the sink again.

It appears that someone (whom shall remain nameless) decided to throw it in the garbage. A $20 mug that I bought my Freshman year of college into the garbage. It is now clean and on my desk. I will now watch it very closely.

Who throws a coffee mug in the garbage?
I don't get it.
I can't stand people who are such neat freaks that they have to fling everything in the garbage.
It's called OCD- there is help available for it.

The thing is, I could understand it if the mug had been sitting there for days, but it was only there for a few hours. Please, just tell me about it before throwing it out. I usually clean it right away but I got distracted and forgot about it until after lunch.

Ugh! That is so annoying. Our lab manager threatens to throw out dishes that are in the sink, but that is only if they have been there DAYS, and she never follows through.

OMG, that happened to me, too!
I actually left a note in the bathroom about it saying, "Look, if you stole my mug, please return it. I use it for my regular urine samples and need it back."
Needless to say, no one left it in the bathroom, but it still made me feel a tiny bit better.

You called it. She has a major power trip and fires someone almost once every five months. I've been here for four years so I think I'm in the clear, but still, I'm not about to ruffle any feathers.

You know, I work with someone like that too.
All I can say is, their life and their career must be PRETTY SAD if doing stuff like that makes them feel important and powerful in the office.
Totally sad and pathetic people.
