UPDATE: DH has to work late tonight...
UPDATE: DH JUST called... he thinks they're going to be out of there in the next half hour or so!!  They're all rushing to finish!!!! I'm SO RELIEVED I could cry! (seriously) Thanks ladies!!!! My miracle is happening for tonight! WOOHOO!!!!!!!
He just called to tell me that he's probably not going to be home until after midnight...  
Originally he was supposed to be home by 9 or def. 10 so he could give me my lupron shot.... now my anxiety is thru the roof!!!   I mentioned it to my mom- and she said 'yeah but you've given them to yourself before' then when I told her that was w/ a pen (gonal-f) and this is an actual syringe that I have to prep, etc.... her face looked like this
She's TERRIFIED of needles, so I know she won't be any help to me either. I CAN'T believe that I am going to have to do this to myself...   My MIL lives almost an hour away so my mom suggested I drive there but I'm not going to show up on her doorstep after 10 at night to ask her to give me a shot.... this is like a nightmare.

Honestly, it's not any different than the Gonal-F. The only difference is that you have to draw it yourself.

Honestly it's crazy, but with my fear of needles, I'd drive my arse up to where DH works, have him meet me in the car for 5 minutes and give me the shot! 
Otherwise, can you enlist a good friend??

I have not given any of the shots to myself, but I watch DH do it all the time and he has it down pat...If you have any specific questions- I'd be happy to ask him for you !The biggest thing is to make sure there is no bubbles, that I know

No, ALL of my friends are gone... none of them live w/in 2 hours of me anymore. There's actually a woman at DHs church that could've helped me I think but she's in Ohio visiting her son and his family... just my luck.
I'll force myself to do it- I just wish I didn't have to wait until tonight.. I'd rather just get it over with if I have to do it- b/c it's been giving me anxiety since he called and I know i'll have it all throughout the day until it's over....

Thanks I watch DH do it all the time too-- w/ the gonal-f shots. I couldn't watch the first few and then I got used to it. The only one I didn't EVER try to watch was the ovidrel b/c it's a real syringe and I knew I'd either or - I just TREMENDOUS fear of syringes.... don't know why- they're just 'REAL' needles to me- whereas the gonal-f pens aren't to me  if that makes any sense...

Well, you know I can relate to the anxiety - hang in there and think hard about the fact that this will ALL be a distant memory come tomorrow at this time

Oh, don't be worried. Its your fear that is ruling here. The needles are all the same size for sub-Q. You can do this. I know I live nearby (maybe 30 minutes) can I help you in any way? Though I will admit I cannot do the POI shots. I actually have a nurse come to my house every night at 8pm to give them to me.
My RE's website has a video. So, before you do it, watch the vid a couple of times until you are comfortable with it. Website: http://www.freedommedteach.com/player/Videos.aspx
You will see, after you do it you will be like "wow, that was so easy". And seriously, you cannot hurt yourself with it. any bubbles that don't get out wont hurt you either. I always had one stupid bubble in the same spot every time I had to do it.

I was going to suggest looking at you tube for a video to make you more comfortable. Also, may be take a pen and mark where the shot needs to go so you have a "target" to distracr you and ice it up first. GL!!!!

UPDATE: I just tried to look at the link suggested to me above but they won't let me log in b/c I'm not a patient of theirs...
so i went on youtube and now I'm ready to seriously- I was trying to find a 'professional' looking one and I'm just goign to do my best to get this out of my mind until around 10pm...
if I'm 'lucky' my mom will come to my house and give me moral support- last time I had to give myself my gonal-f injection she asked me if she could 'just close my eyes with the needle in my hand and give you the shot that way'.. I said no thanks and then she turned all shades of green and kept her eyes closed asking me all the while 'is it done yet, is it done yet....'? I finally made her leave the room and wait in my living room for me....  Gotta love her for trying though...

I'm so sorry. I know what you're going through--I nearly had to give myself the Ovidrel shot, but DH came home at the last minute.

Thanks, I just viewed it. I'm still feeling really though- maybe I should've waiting a while to watch it.... my fists automatically clenched so tightly when I saw that needle go in... Praying for a miracle that DH doesn't end up working as late as he says he's going to....

I am sorry you are going through this. As if you don't have enough stress already. I wish I could help but I have no Lupron experience. Maybe one of the ladies on this board can talk you through it on the phone.
