Italian ices are different everywhere you get them...but as a kid, I used to love this shack thing in Oyster Bay that had them...lemon made from actual lemons (it even had pits) and the chocolate was out of this world...those were their only two flavors...

That's Bonanza's!!!! My FAVORITE!!!! I still go there all the time after we go on my Dad's boat!!!

I was living out of state for a while and was shocked when I went back there....you should see all the flavors now!!!! But, lemon and chocolate are still my favorite!

Re: 3 Years now living here and I never had a

Italian Ices saved my pregnancy!!! There were days when I could only keep down lemon ices.

I'll be hitting the ices again heavy this summer. I could leave it at that and make you think I'm pregnant but it is really just that I seem to have problems with lactose and ice cream is not agreeing with me. I think ices will be fine and I love them!!!!!!

Italian ice is great! Lots of different flavors to choose from and lighter than ice cream.

I grew up eating them.

nothing special at all IMO. I definitely prefer ice cream.... And most italians would likely more proudly proclaim gelato as italian Chat Icon

Love Italian Ices, they are great

if you want a really really great one, you have to come to brooklyn, and go to dolly's they are amazing,
belt parkway exit 11n go past the mall and make a right on ave u and go just past the home depot its a little stand on the right hand side, you cant miss it there is usually a line waiting for ices

they have so many flavor choices, i have never had a better ice, i moved out of the neighborhood and go back for the ices

Re: 3 Years now living here and I never had a

Ahhh being that you are close to Sayville, you have to go into West Sayville and go to Papa Mia's which is across from the golf course. Ralphs in town has more flavors but Papa Mia's ices come from Corona King and are sooooooooo good!! Especially the rainbow. Both places are great. And as for ices being special, maybe not to some but i LOVE them!!! DH and i walk up or bike ride every night practically in the summer after dinner to get one

To me they are not a big deal. I even had the Corona Ices. I remember moving here from Texas and everyone raved about the Italian ices. Boy was I disappointed!!! I guess I was expecting the equivalent of a Snoball from Texas (shaven ice not crushed ice) and they are 10x the size of the ices. I was wanting more!

As for the Jamba Juice, I don't understand why they don't have them on LI! Love the Green Tea with a Boost of course!

I love italiam ices. You have the option for creamy or ice. And there's a million different flavors. They are a great summer treat.

not surprised you were not blown away. a lot of people much prefer ice cream/frozen yogurt to ices.

ices are pure sugar. at least ice cream has fruit/cream in it - depending on the flavor.

I am not a huge fan of ices, but on a really hot day, I love rainbow ices. very refereshing and more fun than a cold ice tea or lemonade.
