**UPDATE: HE WAS FOUND!!!***Please help---what are the nearby animal shelters in Baldwin??!***
My girlfriend just moved to Baldwin area...pretty close to the Nautical Mile. Unfortunately her dog got out of the backyard and he hasn't been back since last nite.  The kids are heartbroken and she has no idea what to do and doesn't know the area too well just yet.
Can anyone please give me information on where she would need to call locally for the dog?
I believe he's some type of maltese mix -- he has all white hair that can get pretty mangled when its not properly groomed, so they keep him cut pretty short usually. He is a very friendly and jumpy and loves people.
PLEASE if you have seen this dog or can put the word out---my friend really really wants to find him!
He answers to "Happy"
He is in between groomings--and his hair grows fast....so here are 2 pics of him....one when hes ungroomed and the other when he is.
**He was last seen around 7:30pm last nite with a green shirt on him that said "Wanna be Doberman"***

Yay!! Happy is back home!!
My girlfriend had NO IDEA where to start to try and find the dog....so I looked up the nearest animal shelter to her and it was Freeport Animal Shelter. We called and were transferred to the "Strays" hotline, and described Happy to them. Thankfully they had received a call today from Baldwin Animal Hospital....stating that someone found Happy and brought him to them, and they had called Freeport Shelter to come get him if no one claimed him by the end of today.
So she has the doggy back and home and I told her to go back to the vet and get him chipped so we don't have to flip out over this next time!!

OMG what the heck is going on over here!!!! I guess its the time of year.. I am assuming the dog is in unfamiliar territory? You mentioned she just moved there??? I hope they find him!! Please keep us posted!! He is ADORABLE!!!!!

She is very lucky! Although chipping IS a great idea, tell your friend to please make sure he can't get out again b/c the reality is, there are nasty people in this world who will KEEP or SELL or HARM the dog, regardless if the dog is chipped or not. So the main thing is, never giving the dog the ability to get out again!
She is very lucky and I am so very happy for them!!!
