***UPDATE in last post***New Question, DS VERY sick....
DS has had a cold since Friday. It's only getting worse. DH is taking him to the doctor at 9:30, we're splitting the day off. I am leaving work at 11:30, going home, then DH is going to work. I don't know how in the world I'm going to be able to take care of DS, b/c I'm sick as a dog too.... Any advice on that would be much appreciated.....
My real question is, has any of your DCs ever had a cold but then their eyes get infected too? DS woke up from his nap yesterday afternoon and his eye was swollen shut and VERY gunky. Now they are SOOOO swollen and red on the outsides. DH said they were swollen shut again this morning when he woke up? Any clue what this is or have your DCs had this before???? TIA, I'm at a loss~~

Could it be pink eye? My son had this about a week and a half ago. His eyes were shut and had yellow gook all over his eyelids. Turned out to be pink eye which can be viral. Doctor said he was congested and all. Sometimes when they have a cold and are congested it can travel all the way up to the eyes.

I was thinking pink eye, but the whites of his eyes aren't red or pink at all, just around the eyelids and outside... Could that be pink eye?

Aww man..I am so sorry. Sickness stinks!
It definately could be pink eye even if the whites arent red. Every time I got pink eye (which was a lot working in preschool), my whites never got red. How are is eyes when he wakes up? Are they crusty and closed? I hope you both feel better soon!

Everything in your head is connected, so it's very possible he got pink eye from a cold. You should get it checked out and I hope he feels better.

Yes, they are very goopy and closed. He looks just pitiful. I feel terrible for him, I just wish I felt better so I could fully be tending to him too.....

Oh good. In the meantime, you can take cotton balls soaked with warm water and gently massage his eye and the area around it.

About a month ago, my DD had a virus that caused an infection in both her eyes & her ear. She was given an antiobiotic for both. It wasn't pink eye - just the same virus that caused the ear infection. The eyes cleared up after one or two rounds of the drops. Good luck.

He was given Augmentin that should clear up both apparently. Poor little guy.... Now sick-o mommy is on her way home to take care of him and relieve healthy daddy.......

That's exactly what was wrong with my DD & she had the Augmentin too. She was just fine in no time after starting the antibiotic. I also gave her some tylenol for the ear pain.

I had a feeling it was pink eye. My DS's eyes were never red or anything but he had the yellow gook and it was pink eye. Did the doctor prescrible drops?

Uggh I hate the drops! I had to give them to my DS when he had pink eye. It was no fun at all. It took 3 people to hold him down! He was a maniac and would scream his head off as soon as he saw the eye drops bottle...

No drops, apparently the antibiotic Augmentin, should clear up the ears and the eyes... I am SO SO SO SO thankful for no drops!
