UPDATE! induction stories...especially for 2nd or more baby, and/or with unfavorable cervix

I am scheduled for an induction with my third baby for 41 weeks. At 39 weeks 2 days I was 1cm, cervix was still long, baby still high. I find out tomorrow if I've made any more progress. I'm really worried that I haven't made any progress and that the induction will lead to a c section. I have had 2 vaginal births, barely any pushing time for each. I really don't want a c section at all. I'm having rhe induction in the last possible day my dr is comfortable with. Would love to hear some induction stories to give me hope, or prepare me for what may have to be.

UPDATE. my precious baby girl was born early saturday! She came on her own with a very short and relatively easy labor. It all happened suddenly and quickly and I am sooooo happy. She is amazing and our family is so in love with her.

With ds#2 I had to be induced due to gall bladder issues. I was 1cm I believe when I went in.

I had 2 rounds of cervadil (12 hours each) and then around 9 on Wednesday morning they gave me pitocin and later on broke my water and I got an epi. The doctor checked and said I should have the baby by 2.
DS was born at 2:51 with maybe 3 pushes.

Good Luck - there are many successful induction stories. I also think since you delivered vaginally before you are probably are in go shape to go.

With DS#1 I was 10 days late and the night before I had to go to the dr I went into labor on my own. I was against rushing the induction since I felt great and baby was fine.

I wasn't induced with DS 2 since he came early but had an induction scheduled.

My Dr told me that for the second (or third) if you are already dilated, you are a great candidate for induction since your body has already gone through childbirth.

I have friends who have been induced for their second or third and have had no issues.

Don't know too many details but SIL was induced with her first and gave birth vaginally with about an hour of pushing. From induction to baby out was about 12 hours.

I was induced with my first baby at 38 weeks 5 days due to pre-e. Started at 2pm on a Thursday. I had 2 rounds of cervadil (about 12 hours each). After that, they started pitocin, broke my water around 4pm Friday. Finally started pushing around 9:45pm and she was born at 10:31pm.

It could take awhile, but you can certainly do it without a c-section. I really didn't want one either, just because of the recovery, so I stuck it out when it seemed I wasn't progressing.

I was induced with DD1 due to low fluids. I had an unfavorable cervix and it took over 36 hours before they were able to start pitocin, but in the end I was still able to deliver vaginally. It was long, but worth it in the end. GL.

I was induced with DD (#2) bc of low fluid, i had a great experience and wish I could plan my third like this. Went in at 8 am, they broke my water, and set up pitocin. I pushed like 4 times, and she was born at 11:52 am. My recovery was a breeze too compared to my first.

Many Drs will allow for elective inductions after having one or two kids. Mine did. I had one scheduled but, DS came earlier.

I was induced with my 1st, had a vaginal delivery, had my 2nd and went naturally, and was just induced with my 3rd and had the baby naturally. So, both times I was induced and had the baby just fine. I needed the jumpstart.

I was not dilated at all with my third and had the baby the same day I was induced. Chat Icon

Thank you for all the positive stories! I'm feeling much more confident today. Just had my appmt and I'm 2cm and 50% effaced. Finally some real progress. Doctor was very confident that barring any emergency, even if i were induced today it would be successful. She also thinks I will go naturally before then. Can't wait to meet my baby girl!
