Update on Abby's bathtime situation. Has anyone gone through such insanity?
You may remember, I had quite a time with Abby on the night before Easter regarding her bath. The whole aggravating story In a nutshell, she went totally ballistic when I attempted to bathe her, I resorted to all sorts of threats and we all went to bed ******.
The update: I told her the Easter bunny had left her basket, but he told me that in order for her to get it, she needed to take a bath or a shower. She very nicely opted for the shower while exclaiming, "I'm going to be a good girl!" And then I turned the water on and had to wrestle her like she was a greased pig to get her in the tub and keep her there long enough to get washed. OK, fine...
All subsequent showers have gone the same way. Tonight she just screamed for the duration. I asked her if she was hurt (because she does have a very nasty rash on her inner thigh), and she said, "No, nowhere." Evidently, she's just afraid...out of nowhere!
Have any of you gone through a similar thing? If so, how long did the phase last and what was the outcome?
Well, if anything, she's keeping in line with her older sister for whom I found age three (and she's still got a month left before that!) was definitely worse than age two!

Yes, I went through this and it passed after a few bath's. I would just keep doing what you are doing. Eventually she will forget about it.

Yep...lasted about 2 months for us. He took a LOT less bathes/showers during that time, but ya do what ya gotta do.

Hi Erin! Sorry to see you are going through this.
We went through it with Grace for about 2 weeks. Crying because she wanted to put the shampoo on herself, wanted DH to give her the bath, wanted to take a shower instead of a bath, etc. For Grace it came down to controlling the bath time and all aspects of it (time of bath, who does what, bath or shower, etc). I agree with the pp and keep doing what you are doing, this too will pass.

I went through the same thing with my DS when he was about 2 and 1/2 it turns out that the water was running through the pipes and the noise was scaring him. It took a few days of no baths before I realized it, maybe there is something bothering her in the bathroom.

Claire went through a stage of hating bathtime. It last at least a month, she was between 18 months a 2 years.

Hang in there, it's a phase and it does pass! I went through it with my DD when she was around 2. Out of no where, bath time became torture, she was a horrendous monster and I often resorted to holding her down while throwing water over her to rinse (in the most gentle way possible ).
I remember it getting close to the summer, and we had been talking about going to the pool, which she loves, so I told her that we had to start practicing for the pool, and I gave her a toy she would play with at the pool, and it suddenly clicked and got better.
BUt it was hell for about 3 months. Yes, 3 months I hope it passes sooner for you.

Re: Update on Abby's bathtime situation. Has anyone gone through such insanity?
We have been having issues with taking a bath lately. First she doesn't want to get in, then she won't get out. I think it may be a control thing with us. I usually get her in by "bribing" her with bath toys. (then I have the problem of her not wanting to get out) Have you tried going back to the bath? Maybe she is not ready for the big girl shower after all? 3 has definitely been worse than 2 for us as well. I hope your shower problems get better soon!!

miki has been like this lately when I try to wash her hair
she FREAKS if ANY water gets in her ears, tries to jump out of the tub, etc
it is very stressful, I have begun to wash her hair with the shower head to help a bit, it is still a nightmare

Ugh! Thanks ladies! Hope the phase is short-lived. Meanwhile, she tells me last night, "Mom, don't shower me tomorrow, OK?"

Re: Update on Abby's bathtime situation. Has anyone gone through such insanity?
My girls have gone through it at one point or another. Some days are quicker than others - some days are a process getting them in and out of the bath. I try and make it fun for them - add bubbles ( buy Dora bubbles, princess bubbles and they get so excited just for that ) and toys - to keep them busy and occupied in there.
It will pass.
