Update: SOLD! How do I sell my car?
I want to sell my car. I love it and it runs well, but we're having a baby in December and it's going to be hard to fit him/her into my 2-door Civic coupe.
How do I sell my car? Do I put an ad in the paper? On Craigslist? What paperwork (besides my title and registration) should I have on hand? Any tips to negotiating a price?
Help.

Ad in the newspaper worked for me. Craigslist did not.
Sold it same weekend I put the ad in the paper, Newsday.

We sold DH's car on Craig's List like 4 hours after posting it! The buyer came over with cash, we signed over the title and that was that!! All you will need on hand is a copy of your title. Once you sign it over to the new owner, it's a done deal. We also just typed up a short contract statiing the date, buyer's info, amount sold for, etc. We didn't go as far as having it notarized, but you could do that too if you feel more comfy. GL!

Craigslist worked for us, we had about 25 people respond and then 5 or so people showed up at the same time to look at it and we ended up selling it for more than we were asking!
It was gone the day after we listed it!

craigslist works better for cars under $10,000.
When I sold my last car I made a craiglist listing a little lower than what is was worth and gave a one hour window for buyers to come with cash-
I took the first offer because it was more than I listed it for. The guy gave me the cash & sat in his car in the street for an hour until the tow truck he arranged came.
So simple.

I'm not sure where you are located, but, last year, my DS sold his car to a local gas station and they sell it from there.

I think trading it in will probably get us less money than selling it privately. (Or am I completely off base here?) I have no idea what we're getting yet, though I'm leaning towards a Rav4 or Santa Fe.

We just sold my Civic Sedan yesterday.
DS put an ad in the paper and online through Cars.com for $50 last Sunday.
Civics are in high demand right now.
It was a bit of a pain because he's in classes this week so trying to schedule people to see it.
We had two people interested in making an offer 12% below our asking price.
ETA - We looked at the Kelly Blue Book value and priced it in between the two lower values.

after you look up the value on kelley blue book definitely put for sale signs in the windows of the car with your number and try to park it on high visibility streets- that worked well for me
