Update: Thank You for Pushing Me to Go to the Doctor!
I posted recently about having some problems with exhaustion, mild depression, etc. since DS was born. I had some BIG mood swings right after he was born, then around 6 weeks or so, I felt a little better. Then I did not feel right again. I just couldn't get myself motivated to see a doctor.
Anyway, thanks to the posts from many of you, I went to the doctor, and it turns out my thyroid is a bit off. No terrible, but I need to go on Synthroid for a bit. My doctor wants me to come back soon for more blood tests after I've taken Synthroid for a bit, and it needs to be monitored for awhile. She said most likely this is causing my exhaustion and depression, though if it doesn't clear up in a couple weeks or so, I may need ot look into PPD.
Anyway, thank you, thank you, all for telling me to go to the doctor. There is no reason for me to feel this way, and if I had let this go, it could have gotten worse.

1 in 10 new moms have thyroid problems which can lead to depression, fatigue, anxiety, hair loss, and other issues. It's so much more common that I had previously thought.

Maybe I'll stop losing my hair with the medication! Probably not though--my doctor said this could be happening from the pregnancy.
She said many people go without getting diagnosed following the birth of a child, because many of the symptoms of a thyroid disorder are common for a new mother. I just knew my fatigue and mood swings weren't right.

Glad to hear you have some answers - it sounds like maybe you have post partum thyroiditis - I have this and so do several other moms on here. Hope you feel better soon
