[Update w/pic] OK Who has wood-looking luxury vinyl floors that they LOVE?

[Update]

External Image

We wound up going to Montauk while the floor was being done. We are very happy with the results, it looks SO much better. I won't post before pics because I'm too embarrassed but trust me, this is a vast improvement!

This is actually laminate, not vinyl. It changes the whole feel of the house and we're glad we finally did it.

Thanks ladies, for all your advice! Chat Icon

[original post]

My coworker's brother does installation and he brought in samples for me and showed me the finished product and it looks fabulous. So much better than I knew vinyl could look.

Anyway, we're considering it because we have dogs and honestly don't want to spend the $ on hardwood, when we're not staying in this house.

Does anyone have tips on installers, and info on the process? How long will we have to be out of the house? It's the main room, we can't get around the house if we can't walk on it and I'm concerned about the dogs and if there are any fumes

We have it in our pantry and love it! (I have to snap a photo) You can walk on it immediately and there weren't any fumes. I can't recall if it was peel and stick or no adhesive at all?

My husband also just had it installed in part of his showroom:

He was on a short time schedule (less than 7 days to finish the showroom) and this was the quickest and most cost effective option AND he's really happy with the way the floor turned out. So much so that he's thinking about removing his carpeting in his showroom next door and installing the vinyl flooring.

Oh my, that's beautiful! Thank you for your help. We will need to have our floors leveled first I think, that might involve some more work. It would be great to leave the house for a day instead of overnight!

Is it holding up nicely to traffic? My main concerns are dog nails and chairs scraping across the floor.

Most of my clients use this type of flooring in their practices.
The brand that has been around for years and is extremely durable is Amtico.

DH and I installed it ourselves in our basement. We used Armstrong Luxury Vinyl planks. It was very affordable and is holding up really well. We don't have any pets, but we do alot of entertaining down there and haven't had any damage from shoes or chairs moving around.

Happy pickings next weekend! Chat Icon

I spoke to my husband and he said he thinks the installer may have used an adhesive on his showroom floor (he was traveling at the time), but he said he was walking on it the next day and that his staff may have been on it that day.

This is our "unfinished pantry" Chat Icon (my husband has been super busy with work these days) ...but it's a floating vinyl floor (purchased from Home Depot, my husband installed it), so no adhesive and we were definitely walking on it immediately. I also have 3 little ones who raid my pantry all the time, plus a dog, and it's also where we enter during inclement weather:

We have a "handscraped teak" vinyl floor in our LR, DR and Hallway that we loooove! We bought it from lumber liquidators. It's a click-lock floating floor. Amazing stuff. It was pretty affordable, too. Under $3 per square foot.

That looks awesome! And it's probably pretty durable for having pets!

Thanks ladies! Yes, it's durable with the dogs but I did have to put coasters under all the furniture feet to keep them from denting the floor. Surface scratches - good. Two hundred fifty pounds concentrated into (4) 1/2 inch feet - bad. Chat Icon
