UPDATE! we got the tempurpedic

we can do an even swap of the beast for a 10" tempurpedic... we don't have too many other options...

does anyone own one? What do you think? it has mixed reviews online, but much better than the reviews of the beautyrest exceptionale (which kept us up all last night Chat Icon )
We're going in an hour to exchange... it's a long crazy story...... please tell me if you think it's a good bed

TIA Chat Icon

Re: argh! need to exchange beast mattress ASAP anyone own a tempurpedic?

We have the Celebrity Tempurpedic and are very happy with it. I've gone to bed with aches and pains and woken up COMPLETELY refreshed.

I do remember it had a distinct new smell to the fabric when we first got it, but it went away.

The first few nights were firmer than ever. I think it was because it was packaged for so long in the plastic wrap.

Some people complain about the mattress retaining the warmth. I don't find that a problem at all.

My only regret is that we didn't get a king size.

Oh, and we did try the glass of wine trick that they do in the commercials. I cheated and used a plastic bottle of water, but it was the same affect, NOTHING. DH has taken a running jump onto the bed and I don't feel a thing. Probably much different results if I did that, but oh well. Chat Icon

My dh and I are dying to get one of these beds. Our 3 year old bed is absolutely horrible.

Re: argh! need to exchange beast mattress ASAP anyone own a tempurpedic?

UPDATE!

we are SOOOOO happy with our tempurpedic... I'm not even sure which model we got Chat Icon

Here's the story, we got a wonderful deal on a beautyrest exceptionale last friday. It was the floormodel, so we paid $800 for a $4k mattress Chat Icon . It was delivered sunday night. WHAT A DISASTER!!!!! OMG

This giant poofy mattress had absolutely no structural integrity AT ALL. I have NO IDEA how we thought it felt good in the showroom. When you layed on it, it literally sucked you into the pillowtop. Within 3 hours of trying to sleep we had such major backaches. we were looking up the customer service # at 3am Chat Icon

So we went back to the store (they have a no return/exchange policy for floor models, but we didn't know that at the time of sale Chat Icon ) The guy was nice and said we could exchange it (below the corporate radar) if we rent a u-haul, bring 'the beast' back... then we could take ANY queen-sized floor model they had. Most were too squishy.... so we chose the tempurpedic.

Oh my it is lovely Chat Icon We love it. I toss and turn MUCH less than in our original mattress. My back is beginning to feel better, despite hauling the beast back to the store Chat Icon

so it's a happy day, and we finally got some rest....

I few of my friends have the "Bob-o-pedic" and it's just as great and much cheaper! DH and I plan on getting one as soon as we move in May.

Enjoy every single minute of it!!! We'll be paying ours off for the next year, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. This bed LITERALLY saved my back. I actually Chat Icon over leaving town because I know how much I will miss our bed! Chat Icon

Re: UPDATE! we got the tempurpedic

I'm so glad you like it!
I have a King size Temper and do not like it at all. It had a bad "new smell" for awhile. It also seems so hot to me. And it hurts my lower back & hip. I also used to love sleeping on my stomach and if I do it on our Temp now, it hurts my lower back. My DH does not like it either. I hear such mixed reviews from people I talk to. But always is either a totally love ot totally hate it thing.
So now (less than 5 yrs and thousands of dollars) we are going shopping for a new mattress.
SOOO happy they let you exchange it!!

Re: UPDATE! we got the tempurpedic

so after ridding ourselves from 'the beast' (aka, the mattress that was delivered on sunday), I read a lot of reviews on epinions.com and another website (forgot which).... Oh my, how most people hate their mattresses. After doing a lot of research (after the fact Chat Icon ) I came to the following conclusions:

people generally prefer either memory foam or latex mattresses.... innersprings always get lower reviews.... the most-loved mattresses are:

tempurpedic
the westin hotel bed
select comfort
sealy postrapedic

the beast was a beautyrest exceptionale.... abysmal ratings Chat Icon everyone said they felt like they were sinking into a hole (we did too!).

so anyone who is considering buying a new mattress, do what we didn't.... read reviews BEFORE you shop!

I forgot to say before--the 10" is the one we have. We tried all of them in the store, even the REALLY expensive ones. We found the 10" to be the most comfortable (and most supportive) and it has been awesome!! I felt that the more expensive models were WAY too soft!

I heart my tempurpedic pillow, so I could only imagine how nice a whole mattress would be
