UPDATE WITH ANOTHER QUESTION! Is wine an inappropriate gift for preschool teachers?
I was going to give DD's teachers each two bottles of Santa Margherita, but now I'm thinking it's a bit inappropriate.
Should I have my DH stop at Barnes & Noble for gift cards!?!
UPDATE:
I'm sending DH for GCs.
Can I ask another question...I tried to search for it earlier today and got nothing.
How much should I spend? DD goes twice a week for 2.5 hours.
And do I spend more on the teacher than I do on the assistants?
I figured I would do $25 GCs each. Is that too little?

Not sure "appropriate" is the word I would use.
But I not assume the teacher likes wine and that particular type.

It's a hard one but I tend to stay away from alcohol for people I don't know really well. You never know who is in recovery, either them or at home. I know that sounds lame but that's why.

See, I would love it, but think it may not be that appropriate. You can't go wrong with B&N GC - if anything, they can always get a book for the classroom!!!

That's the thing...how do I know that anything I get them would fit their tastes, whether it's a frame, trinket, you name it.
I initially wanted to get something edible, but my DH talked me out of it.
Now I'm debating whether I should have him stop at Barnes & Noble or something.
FWIW, the teachers are all 60+.

My DH hates me b/c I just made him go to B&N for GCs. (and for the fact that I just made him buy 6 bottles of wine...not that I won't drink it. )

That's about what we spend. I don't spend less on the assistants b/c they are just as involved with the kids. I do throw something extra in with the main teachers gift, like stickers or something. My kids both come home with about 5 stickers every day, they must buy them constantly!

Re: UPDATE WITH ANOTHER QUESTION! Is wine an inappropriate gift for preschool teachers?
I chipped in with the class for a gift and then just did GC's on my own. My DD only goes 2x a week for 1.5 each day. I did a $20 GC for the teacher and $10 GC's for the 2 assistants.
ETA: The amount that we chipped in was miniscule....$13 which they divvied up between the teacher and the 2 assistants.

Re: UPDATE WITH ANOTHER QUESTION! Is wine an inappropriate gift for preschool teachers?
I wouldn't say it's inappropriate, but she may not like wine or that particular wine, or she may not drink.
I never give alcohol as gifts to people I don't know well, mostly because I do know a few people who are recovered alcoholics, and I'd hate to throw that kind of temptation at someone. But I'm probably overthinking it.
B & N would be nice, especially since a lot of teachers buy class supplies with their own $$$.

Re: UPDATE WITH ANOTHER QUESTION! Is wine an inappropriate gift for preschool teachers?
I gave each of A's 5 teachers (2 Teachers, 3 assistants) gift cards in a little Vera Bradley coin purse. Teachers got $25, the assistants $15 (because he is not with them every day he is there).

Posted by Lucky I did a $20 GC for the teacher and $10 GC's for the 2 assistants.
.
DS goes to daycare one day a week and we will also give his main teacher $20 GC and the other two women in the room $10 GC (and those two are not really with him most of the day-all the teachers are assigned certain children as "theirs" that they care only for, through the day unless one teacher is sick, etc)

I love the sentiment... that the children may drive the teacher to drink
seriously, if I was a teacher, I'd love that gift.... but I'm not sure how appropriate it is

Re: UPDATE WITH ANOTHER QUESTION! Is wine an inappropriate gift for preschool teachers?
$25 is fine. She's barely there...unless um... is it the coop school? I know the moms there spend more $$. Not sure if you care about keeping up with the Vanderbilt crowd, but will throw it out there in case you do.
As for wine, I think it's a great hostess gift, but would probably not give wine unless I had a conversation & knew the person liked wine.
Are they younger ? If so, they probably wouldn't appreciate it as much.

The more and more I thought about it, the gift is "supposed" to be coming from DD, not me. Wine just doesn't seem to fit the preschool setting. DH doesn't see the big deal and feels that I'm overthinking it. He says people give out wine all the time...but in my mind, that's usually in a corporate/business setting. I just don't feel that wine seems "right" in a school setting...if that makes any sense?

My dd has the same schedule as yours. DD has a teacher and assistant. I got them each a $25 AMEX gift cheque and got the teacher a $10 Dunkin Donuts gc as well.

GCs are best. Barnes and Nobel/Borders, etc... $20-$25 is good.
