UPDATE with pictures!! New cake pop project and could use some help!
Update! Thanks everyone for the feedback! I ended up filling the glass up with pearl metallic shreads, then a disc of fondant to place the pops in, and then more metallic shreads. I think it came out cute and the bride and groom loved them!!
Sorry it is not rotated:
I'm making cake pops for my friend's wedding. Since her reception is a cocktail party, I am doing olive cake pops and want to display them in giant martini glasses that I bought. The glasses are 10 inches high, and the rim is 9 inches in diameter. Sort of like this:
I have 2 questions: What size lollipop sticks should I use? And how should I secure them in the glass?
I was thinking 6 inch sticks but maybe I need longer?
As for securing them, I was originally going to use Styrofoam but it is very hard to wedge it in the glass since it is a cone shape and the bottom comes to a point. So DH suggested using modeling clay. Just put in a good sized ball and make it flat and put the pops in that.
I just wondered what you girls thought of this, and if you had any other ideas for me. Thanks!

Honestly, I kinda like the idea of them being in the martini glass as you would see a real olive in a martini, KWIM? Like this:
I mean, the clay would probably work, but I don't think it'd look as nice. If there was space to do something like the photo above, I'd do it that way. I'd get plastic martini glasses.

That does look nice. The problem is, she doesn't want a ton of glasses there because she has limited table space. That is why I got 5 giant glasses to hold about 20 pops each. I don't think it would look right to have the stems up if there are 20 in each glass, KWIM?
That's why I kind of wanted to have them stick up like a bouquet of olives. Kind of like this but larger scale.
My only other option is to do cake balls as olives and just pile them in the glasses, but that isn't as sanitary or fun to eat.

I also bought clear metallic crinkle paper to put at the bottom of the glass (over the clay or whatever I use) to dress it up.
So it will look more like a centerpiece than an actual martini.

What about colored sugar? May not totally go with the theme, but could maybe get it to work to support the sticks. Friend of mine did this in vases with cookie pops.

That might work. I was thinking something more secure that the sticks cold actually stick into, because the bottom is not flat in the martini glass and so things aren't as balanced as they would be in a vase which has a flat surface, KWIM?

Re: New cake pop project and could use some help!
I feel like I have 2 choices:
I can make the pops on long sticks and stick them into something in the glass so they look like they are floating over the glass
or
I can make them on 4-inch sticks so they are shorter than the glass and I can just fan them out along the glass. The olives will probably reach the rim of the glass, so everything will be inside. But this way, I probably won't have to use anything to secure them because they are in a safer position.
The second way might make it harder to take the pops though, and I don't know which way would look better.
Thoughts?

I think our original idea of stryofoam is the the best. If you cut disk about 8 in in diamater using 1/2 in stryofoam it should just sit in the glass below the rim. The filler you have will cover it nicely.
