*UPDATED* 36 week appointment tomorrow

and i'm extremely nervous of the internal. what goes on during this appointment? is it normal weight/blood pressure/urine sample, internal, strep b test and then they check your baby's heart rate? or they don't check the heart rate at all? i'm really curious if i'm dilated at all. were any of you ladies dilated at 36 weeks?

*UPDATED*
so I went to my appointment and I thought I was going to die from heart palpitations! I was sweating, my hands were clamy, my legs and feet were freezing, i was doing lamaze haha. The internal was really uncomfortable but wasn't anything to cry about. he was pretty quick.. in fact, i think the strep b actually hurt more! i'm completely closed :( i was hoping i was at least something but nope! let's hope next week is a different case! i wanna get this baby out asap before he's 9 pounds.

Don't be nervous! Internals don't always hurt! I was so nervous b/f mine with my DS and it didn't hurt at all - none of my internals did! My OB is amazing! I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced at either 36 or 37 wks - can't remember! Good luck!

It's really no different than a normal pelvic exam. It's pretty quick too. Don't worry, you will be fine. I was not dialated until the end and it was time with both DSs.

Good luck:)

I didn't get an internal until 37 weeks but honestly I didn't think it hurt. There was some pressure for a few minutes as they were doing the exam but I was fine during and afterwards. Good luck!

Re: 36 week appointment tomorrow

Everyone is different -- I had an internal done last week at 31 weeks because of frequent contractions -- they wanted to see if I was dialating at all.

For me, it hurt quite a bit and was very uncomfortable, but I also have an EXTREMELY sensitive cervix and start to bleed heavily as soon as the doctors touch me. Even my doctor mentionned how sensitive mine is. So, I'd imagine it may not be as painful for other people.

As for what she does: its really pretty much the same as any normal pelvic exam you would get at your yearly OB appointments.
