UPDATED Can a dog get a cold?

My 11 year old little piconeese (sp) hasn't been himself lately... it's so sad. He sleeps all the time now, doesn't eat and there's a lot of gunk coming out of his eye. Plus, it almost sounds like he has a stuffy nose b/c he's been having breathing problems. I hate seeing him like this. DH is going to call the Vet as soon as they open this morning.

UPDATE: DH took him to the Vet and he had a fever of 103.5. My poor TommyBoy. Anyway... they took bloodwork and gave him a shot of Amoxocilin (sp). He's doing sooo much better now. Oh, and the bloodwork came back fine. Vet just said it was a bug or something. I'm giving him the pill twice a day and he's eating again and has his energy. Chat Icon

Our dog has this!!! same exact symptoms!! He weezes and coughs and slow moving.. we took him to vet and she put him on anitbiotics and gave us
drops for his crusty gunky eyes...his glands are huge!! its been over a week and he is getting better but still not all gone. She also gave him heartworm test while there..
You shld have your pup to Dr.
Hope he feels better soonChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks sooo much! DH is calling the Vet as soon as they open this morning and will bring him in. I hope an antiobiotic, shot or something will do the trick... I hate seeming him like this. I'm glad to hear your dog is starting to do better. Chat Icon

He will, its funny how your doggie is going thru the samething (well not that type of funn) My collie/shep mix is about 10yrs old and healing is slower cus of his age. Ask a lot of questions and keep him comfy and hyrated..
Good Luck!
