UPDATED with links to finding your Jewish Family Members Since there are some posts re: family history/genealogy, may I respectfully ask
those of Jewish background: I'm aware of how important it was thousands of years ago, for the Jewish people to keep genealogies, which were important to establishing succession to the royal sovereignty, the high priesthood, tribal headship/family, and father's house, according to a History I have. Do Jewish folks still keep, or feel it is important to keep family genealogies? Just curious; I love genealogy as you know!! Thanks!! Mary

Re: Since there are some posts re: family history/genealogy, may I respectfully ask
I have to say that my grandparents (on my mothers side) kept many many photos of all family members. Each time the album was pulled out we'd all go over the "who's who" in the album.
But growing up it became less and less important (not sure why though) to my family to do just that.
I don't know much about my father's side of the family which to me is a bit disappointing.

I am Catholic, DH is Jewish. For him, he so wants to know more about his anscestors, but can only go back so far due to people leaving their homes during the Nazi regime. It's frustrating for him and then he sees that I can go back to the 1860's without problems.

From a contact I made via a friend of a friend I can now trace DHs family tree back to 1640. My side of the family was basically all murdered during WWII. I can go back to my great-great grandfather on my mom's side of the family.

I'm so sorry to hear that your Family members were murdered. I just discovered, while searching for Miss Jones, that there are online links to Holocaust records. Mary
