UPDATE....Derek did a weird shaking thing this morning...should I be worried?
DH was feeding Derek while I was making my lunch for work. All of a sudden he called me in and Derek was kind of shaking slightly, bouncing his head up and down. It only lasted a few seconds and looked like he was falling asleep while DH was feeding him which is not unusual. He was kind of in an ackward position sitting up kind of scrunched in DH's arms.
I thought he might have been shaking because sometimes he gets a chill when he pee's but that is usually side to side and only lasts a second...this was a little longer. I picked him up and as soon as I did he was awake and alert so I dont think it was a seizure because dont they usually last longer and are out of it for awhile after? I was wondering too if it was the position he was in and he was just falling asleep and his head was bobbing from that?
UPDATE
I spoke to my ped. and he said we can either wait and see if it happens again or send him to a ped. neurologist and work him up. Being this has never happened before and DS is hitting all his milestones (some early) and developing well he is not overly concerned BUT if it happens again he is sending me to a neurologist ASAP. He also said that being as soon as I picked him up he stopped shaking it leads him to believe it was not a seizure. Seizures generally continue even when being touched or held. He did say though that when having a seizure it can be obvious (jerking, rolling of the eyes, etc) but that some forms of seizure disorders may go completely unnoticed by parents. It may look like they are starring for a second and than that's it.
I am wondering if it just from a premature nervous system. I know there have been times in the past when TJ would wake up from a nap he would be slightly shivering/shaking and many other moms on here have mentioned that happening to their kids as well.
He has been fine the rest of the day and even right after so I think I will hold out on putting him through anything invasive for now.

No, seizures can last anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes and they are not always "out of it" afterwards. Some kids do not even shake when they are seizing, they just STOP all movement, get a glazed look, and as soon as it starts, it stops and they are off playing again.
Take it from a BTDT, and call your ped. Get a referral for a neurologist. Its always better to be safe than sorry. If you want to chat more, feel free to FM me. Unfortunately, I know a lot about seizure disorders

I don't want to alram you as it's probably nothing, but I would definitely contact your pediatrician.
I had a friend who thought what she was seeing was typical startle reflex, but turned out to be seizures. Her DD is perfectly fine now, but she did have a seizure disorder and needed to be on medications for her first year.

DD did something similar a few weeks ago. I called the ped and she said DD was choking. She said that if it had been a seizure DD would not have been able to maintain her balance and continue to sit upright completely unassisted.

Not true!!!!!! I have seen a child have a seizure while sitting upright, no loss of balance at all. I am sorry.... but your ped is wrong. I have seen it. Its scary as h***.... but it CAN and DOES happen. My son, my best friends daughter, and my cousins son all have seizure disorders.

there are different kinds of seizures. they can be extremely brief. the person doesn't always lose consciousness, and doesn't always have a sleepy period afterwards.
but it sounds to me like he may have just been nodding off? especially since that's not unusual for him to fall asleep while being fed?
if your ped isn't concerned then i wouldn't be either... but i would keep an eye out for it happening again.

He has his 4 mo. check up on Wednesday so I may ask for a neurologist referral anyhow. The poor guy has been through so much already I dont want to put him through anymore.
