Update:Eating a hair band

Update: Ped said not to worry it will come out in her poop. She went 3 times today and I haven't seen anything, it's just so weird that i can't find it and she went to bed with it.
She just started pulling them out within the past couple days so I may just do headbands for a little while. Her hair is ALWAYS in her face and the headbands come off so easy. Putting her hair in a pony tail was so much easier.....

I think my 10 month old ate her hair tie on Saturday. It's one of those small colored round bands to put your hair in a pony.

She only pooped once yesterday (normally goes 2-3 times), it wasn't in her poop. This morning she was pushing and crying, but no poop.

Would this bind her up, cause her harm? What do I do?

I actually have a scheduled Ped appt for this afternoon, so I wasn't going to call since I can ask when I get there.

I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with children eating things other than food.

Re: Eating a hair band

You think she did, or are you pretty sure? If I wasn't 100% certain and she had no other issues I would wait and see if something passed. If she seemed off for more then a day if two I would put a call into my ped to discuss. As for being bound, I can't see that being related, but you never know. Did she eat any other foods that may have caused her to be a little bound up? Maybe a call to your ped regardless might put your mind at ease a little.

Good luck!!

I think she did. She had it in her hair when I put her down to nap(will never do that again), when she woke up it wasn't in her hair anymore and I can't find it anywhere, so I just assumed she ate it lol

The only thing different she's eaten is corn, and I saw that come out in the poop.

Re: Eating a hair band

I honestly think she's fine. And if she did eat it, she will poop it out. But I think you should run it by the Dr. and see what he has to say.

Re: Eating a hair band

I am curious about what your dr. says - give an update if you can. I am sure your little girl is fine Chat Icon

(i'm curious bc I am scared of this happening - my dd has so much hair but she always goes to pull out whatever I put in it... )

Re: Eating a hair band

They will probably want it to pass ~ my g/f's kids ~ one ate a marble, another a penny and the dr wanted it to just pass. Happy you are going to the Dr today ~ Hope everything is ok with your lo! Keep us posted!

One of those little tiny plastic ones? I wouldn't worry about it to be honest.

Re: Update:Eating a hair band

glad to hear it's nothing to be worried about. weird that it hasn't come out yet - maybe it's stuck somewhere along her crib mattress?
