Updates--Buying & Selling!

First, sorry if I posted this somewhere else by accident. I wrote this message earlier today, but did not see it anywhere when I logged back in to the site. I doubt it got pulled, so I'm guessing I posted it on another board by accident.

Well, after a brief concern that our buyer may back-out, the co-op sale I posted last week is moving along nicely. Our buyer has sent along all the necessary paperwork, and it is with our lawyer at this time. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this actually goes through!

DH and I looked at houses to buy this weekend, and we found two that we really like. One calls to me on an emotional level--I love the neighborhood and the overall design of the home. The one minus--the living room and kitchen are pretty small, and since this is where we spend most of our time, this was a concern to us. The other house is very nice (though somehow doesn't quite feel as homey) and the neighborhood is fine, though not as nice as the other one. We'll probably put an offer on the latter--this is what my head is telling me to do, but the other house has a pull on my heart.

Either way, we'll like either house and if our offer is accepted and the inspection goes well, we should be happy.

Can you eventually add on to the house your heart is telling you to get?

Well, first CONGRATS!!

2nd, it sounds like house #1 is already in your heart. I would put an offer in, what do you have to lose?

I was just thinking the same thing. Is there anyway down the road to expand the house that's pulling on your heartstrings? It sounds to me like that's the house you really like.

Re: Updates--Buying & Selling!

Thanks for your replies, and I'm sorry I didn't acknowledge them sooner. Work was really busy, and we've been going to look at both houses in the evening, so we've been getting home late.

Your feedback helped point out which house I really liked better. Luckily, DH agreed, so we plan to put an offer on the smaller house in the better neighborhood. It does have good potential, and as some of you pointed out, we can expand. It has a pretty large property, and other homeowners in this area have done the same with their homes. So hopefully the buyers will like our offer!

Thanks again! I didn't realize I spelled out which home I really wanted while writing this!

Re: Updates--Buying & Selling!

first of all - congrats on selling your co-op!

Second - i would pursue #1. you can always change the kitchen, you can't change the neighborhood. Its all about location.
