Urgent care places... how long do you wait???
Waited for a doctor over an hour with my oldest. Walked out after an hour and the rudest receptionist in history told us it would be over 15 more minutes. I've been to other urgent cares and waited less then 15 minutes. How omg before you leave???

Less than 15 minutes. I absolutely love the City MD by me and I am beyond picky with doctors. I would use one doctor in particular there as my primary if I could.
And they have the best free pens.

Re: Urgent care places... how long do you wait???
It's going to depend on how busy they are. I always try to get there before they open and get o in as soon as the doors open. Other people are obviously wise to that too but by doing that i never waited more than 20 min in the waiting room. You sometimes wait a bit in the exam room for a dr to come in after the nurse takes your vitals etc. But i have good luck with Stat Health in Sayville in general

I e never waited more than 15 minutes. What's the point of urgent care if you aren't seen relatively quickly?

My point exactly. She said it was busy blah blah... I was so annoyed we walked out... my oldest keeps getting these high fevers. I'll call her ped today.

Never been to one but do they accept insurance? Is the visit covered under insurance?

Re: Urgent care places... how long do you wait???
I've waited over an hour at stat health.
BUT GET THIS.
I went to the ER at the hospital this week. It wasn't that busy. There was a guy there, who needed stitches, he cut his finger badly. He showed up at 4:30 pm. He wasn't first seen until after 7pm. 2.5 hours!!! I waited about an hour for my burns and then walked out because I was not going to sit there for another 2 hours!! er in the hospital and they were seriously taking no one. it wasn't moving. it was insane.

Urgent care places... how long do you wait???
I think I've waited maybe 45 minutes. I've also waited about 10 minutes. I would gladly sit in urgent care for even two hours over going to the ER if my regular doctor was closed.
The purpose of urgent care is to provide medical attention for issues not requiring the ER when your own physician is not open. The wait will vary based upon how busy they are.

Re: Urgent care places... how long do you wait???
I've definitely waited an hour or more at times. At others, I've waited under 10 minutes.

Re: Urgent care places... how long do you wait???
The last few times I brought my kids to urgent care we waited FOREVER. And they were cranky so it really felt like forever. Probably between the main waiting room & waiting in the actual exam room at least an hour.

I rarely wait longer than 5 minutes. I try to go when they first open, although I have gone in the afternoon and I still rarely wait.

Re: Urgent care places... how long do you wait???
It depends on how busy they are. Was the waiting room packed? Were they taking people back to the exam rooms regularly?
You went on a Saturday, which is notoriously busier for those places since most regular Dr offices are closed on weekends. I have absolutely waited an hour to be seen at my local stat health on a weekend.
Those places work on a first come/first serve basis, so it really don't matter how long other people have waited at other urgent care spots. (I don't mean that snarky, just saying)

True. If it's busy, you will wait. Especially on weekends or in the height of cold/flu season like it is now. That's why I try to get there at opening- the wait is a lot less that way. When they say "urgent" care- it doesn't mean you will be taken quickly- it's more of a place to go when your dr is closed, you can't get an appointment with your regular dr or you just need a quick strep test or whatever. Emergency rooms are supposedly for "urgent" care as well- and we all know how long the waits can be there.

I didn't take it that way, no worries. It was not packed when we walked in. We were taken back to the room quickly the nurse did a quick flu test. Then nothing. No one came Back to check the test. Nothing. I had to ask how much longer. I was angry because there was no communication. The receptionist cared more about her damn Greek salad then she did anyone It was frustrating

Ok. Waiting over an hour in an exam room is insane. I totally get why you are upset. Once I'm taken back to the room I have never waited more than maybe 15-20 minutes. Usually it's less than 10.

I told my mom and she agreed that an hour wait is too longer. And if she wasn't so rude about It i may have stayed but she got rude real fast

Re: Urgent care places... how long do you wait???
I've waited up to an hour. If it were a life threatening emergency I'd go to the ER.
Urgent care is meant to be used when you can't get to your regular doctor. Appointments aren't accepted so of course there's sometimes a wait.
