Using an old iPhone Question?
My DH and I both currently have the 4S through AT&T. DH's phone is not insured and he's lost it. We've looked everywhere and unfortunately it's dead so there's no GPS locating it, but he needs this phone for work. He's been using mine until he can afford a new one, but his brother just offered him an old iPhone of his. I believe he also has AT&T though I'm not sure. Would DH be able to just get a new sim card until he's ready to get a new phone? He's up for an upgrade in February and I would just HATE to pay full price now when an upgrade is right around the corner. Would AT&T allow this? I've tried to call them but I keep getting stuck on hold and since I'm at work, I can't really hang out on hold for too long and I've been disconnected 4 times now. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!

I think as long as it's an AT&T iPhone you should be ok. Just go to a store and have it activated.

Yes you can do this as long as it is an AT&T phone. Various members of my family have done this in the past. You just need to go to an AT&T corporate store to get a new sim card. You can't go to just any AT&T retailer.
The AT&T store inside the Smithhaven mall is a corporate store. So is the one in the Islandia shopping center.
ETA - yo can do this with any AT&T phone it does not have to be an iPhone. My DH got a sim card to use in a small prepaid phone for 2 months until his upgrade was available.

Re: Using an old iPhone Question?
Thank you both for your response! 99% sure it's an AT&T phone.
