I dont know if this had been post but I think this is crazy. I know people are scare and dont know how to protect their kids with all the craziness going on but this is not the solution.

Oh dear God, what is happening here? What on earth were these parents thinking, if in fact they encouraged their child to bring a gun to school? Thank God it was unloaded, but perhaps this is going to be another solemn wakeup call that children need to be taught about gun safety and what to do if something like this were to happen. The school may very well have been lax in their response because it was unloaded, but that is not OK. There is still a threat or potential risk of having weapons in a school setting. There need to be appropriate measures and recourse if this happens.

There was a gun brought to a virgina beach school today also. Its been on the news here but I havent had a chance to read the whole story.

This is why I think the argument for having guns in schools (there are many saying we should make schools no longer 'gun free zones', and that we should arm teachers/principals) is so, so dangerous.
The LAST thing this country needs is more guns near our children.

This is heart breaking. Although I would do anything to protect my students I hate feeling like I need body armor to go to work :(
