UTI or just 8 months PG (update)

I feel like I have to pee almost ALL THE TIME! Sometimes I go and then by time I walk out of the bathroom I feel the urge again. Now I have about 6 weeks to go so it could be normal and it doesnt hurt when I go so I was just wondering what you think. Thanks!

Update: They screened for a UTI and it came back negative. Thanks girls! Chat Icon

Re: UTI or just 8 months PG

When I went for my 33 wk visit I told the dr. I was having the same symptoms. He said it was likely the baby but took a sample and did a culture just to be sure. It turned out to be nothing - no UTI but, you should tell your dr. just to be safe since, unfortunately the symptoms are the same for uti and pregnancy, lol! I'm sure its fine though - and isn't it annoying! At 35 wks I'm still peeing constantly and feel like I have to all the time!

Its probably just the baby putting pressure on your bladder. I had the same feeling!

But, to be on the safe side, I would call the Dr!

I am right there with you .... with 5 weeks to go, I feel like I have to pee all the time... and it is always such a disappointment because I get in the bathroom and it is just a little trickle!

I haven't asked the doctor, but I am thinking it's one of the wonderful symptopms of pregnancy!

I went through this last week at 31 weeks. THe difference is I had a slight ache when I went-turns out i had a small cyst and baby was pressing on bladder and rt ovary where the cyst is since she is head down already.

I have something similar. All of a sudden I have to run to the bathroom, then I only go a little and then I'm back in there in 15 minutes or so. Chat Icon

Re: UTI or just 8 months PG

It's probably normal, but I would mention it to the doctor. I had a UTI at the beginning and had no symptoms at all - I found out only b/c they took a sample at my first appointment.

D-

I'm going through the same thing...sometimes its even extremely uncomfortable to hold it for a little while...the boys are getting bigger and they're putting a lot more pressure on our bladder...especially since they're "situating" themselves down there.

ETA: By the way, they would tell you if its UTI or anything else right away...thats why they take the urine each time you go for the visit...

At my dr,'s office even though they take urine every visit they do not culture it to test for uti - they just test for sugars, protein etc. so i would check with your dr,'s office to make sure they are testing for this if you are worried b/c i know it is not routine at my dr,'s office but, i didn't know this until i asked.

Same here, when I tested positive for a UTI, I actually had to ask them to take a sample at my next visit to confirm it cleared up, they were just going to have me use the stick.

i would think it's probably nothing, but i would still call your doc and get your urine tested. GD can increase your vulnerability to UTIs and other infections, and if untreated they can be harmful. feel better Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
