UTI while pregnant
is this dangerous, and the medicine prescribed, is that ok to take? thanks

I def don't t hink its good to have while preggo, but my friend had it three times during her pregnancy and had a healthy baby...so I wouldn't be too worried.
As your ob about it, I'm sure whatever they prescribe will be safe to take.

I've known many women who have had UTI's while pregnant. Sometimes there are no symptoms either.
Anyway, I hear the "safe" medicine to take for an UTI while pregnant is Macrobid. Def. not Cipro!

It fine, it happens more than you think. And the Dr would NOT give you meds that are going to harm the baby. I had on, took antibiotics and all is good.

I just got back from the dr today, with my 2nd UTI. Ive never had them with my first pregnancy. I asked him if it were normal to keep on getting them, and he just said that they are going to take another sample at my next appt to make sure it went away. I dont remember the name of the med he gave me.

I had a UTI a few weeks ago. I was prescribed Bactrim by my OB.

My Dr said it was totally normal. I had one my entire 1st tri. Trust the medication the Dr prescribes. My Dr didnt put me on anything strong bc of the pregnancy so it was just enough to keep it from going to my kidneys and finally it went away
I am assuming your OB prescribed it, not your Primary Care Dr, right?

I just went ot the doc last week for a UTI. I'm taking meds now. He said that they aggressively treat UTIs b/c of the risk of it going to the kidney and preterm labor.

I had two so far and didn't even know it.
I was on pills for a week that my doctor prescribed. She told me it causes pre-term labor so I get checked regularly.

My dr prescribed me Cephalexin. I have to take it 3x a day for a week.

I have one now, my OB prescribed Ampicillin, it's a pretty basic antibiotic I think. She said UTIs are common with pregancy and as long as they're caught early there's no danger.

I've heard/read they are very common during pregnancy. I've never had one so I don't know what is safe to prescribe, but I'm sure whatever your OB gave you is fine.
