vacation help/opinion
We were supposed to take a big family trip this summer with me, DH and DS, my parents, and my sister and my niece. Well my parents have kind of flaked and told me to go ahead and plan something on my own. DH is a little nervous to travel without back-up, though I'm not too worried. So we have a couple of options floating around and I wondering what you girls would suggest/have done....
Option A Go to my timeshare in Playa Del Carmen. We would have to pay for airfare and spending but the timeshare wouldn't cost us anything. The trip would probably cost $2000-2500. A big perk is that it's a whole apartment so we can put the crib in a separate bedroom- that means DH can hang out in the living room and have a bedroom of our own. My complex has a few restaurants but we would probably go into Playa once or twice to walk around and get dinner- so then we'd have to worry about dragging the car seat or just taking our chances without one (it's a 5 minute taxi ride.)
Option B Go to Punta Cana all-inclusive, 4 star resort, direct airfare for a total of $1650. A big perk is that it will definitely save us some money and we don't really need to worry about taking the baby anywhere (restaurants or into town) because everything will be in the resort complex. Another good thing is it's a shorter flight. The downsides are that all-inclusive food is never all that great- even though there are 6 a la carte restaurants. DH is worried that the baby will get sick or eat something that doesn't agree with him.
If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to offer them up. We do not want to do a beach house somewhere because DS will be about 10 months when we go and he likes to put everthing in his mouth and I'd like to avoid a mouthfull of sand. He also crawls, so I don't see the beach as a good option for us. Plus, he can't go in water with waves, so we'd like to stay by a really nice pool.

I suggest option B. With the timeshare, you will have to clean and be responsible for more things, IMO. At the resort, all you have to worry about is having fun!

My timeshare has daily maid service. We're just concerned it won't be as private in a hotel room, if you catch my drift.

We are working on cruise plans now...normally the balcony money is my drinking/gambling money, but since I will probably be spending more time in the room balcony seems worth it.
so....I say option a. To put him in his room is a great thing. You are already familiar with the area.

I would do option A- you know what to expect. As for the cab ride to town, couldn't you walk it with a stroller? I walk EVERYWHERE with DD.
Edited= Also, the privacy factor makes it more like a vacation.
