Vacations with toddler and baby twins
What are some good vacation ideas for a family of five: 2 adults, 1 3-yr-old, and twins under 1 yr? One thing I was looking at was cruises out of NY, so then we wouldn't have to fly anywhere. Any good all inclusives that have childcare?

Re: Vacations with toddler and baby twins
we just got back from 2.5 weeks in FL. it wasnt so bad bc my parents have a house down there so its convenient when you have laundry machines, kitchen, etc (and the extra help of course). we did a few days in disney, but only with my 3 year old and we left the twins with my mom - i could not have imaged bringing them, it would have been SO hard!
a cruise out of NY might not be a bad idea - flying was not easy! but even if you do decide to fly somewhere, so many big resorts offer childcare/babysitting.

Re: Vacations with toddler and baby twins
I have no suggestions... but I have to say that this thread is giving me hope. I was beginning to think that once the twins arrive we will not be getting out of the house much, let alone going on vacation. I am interested in everyone's experiences!

Re: Vacations with toddler and baby twins
Dh and I were trying to decide on a vacation this year. We also have a 3 yo and twins that are 7 months. We were thinking about a cruise from NY. I don't think I could imagine flying with them right now. I know the cruises have childcare. Let us know what you decide!

we were thinking of disney in the fall, but not sure. i feel like we should have travelled a few months ago before the babies were walking! LOL DH is 100% against cruises.

Re: Vacations with toddler and baby twins
I have twin 3 yo and an 11 month old. We just booked Disney for May. I dont know how it is going to work but we will see.
I dont know what kind of vacationers you are but we found that staying in cabins at a campground worked really well for us. we would have all the facilities of home but still was able to go to the beach/pool (depending on place). I also like the fact that we werent trapped in a room at night when the kids went to sleep. My DH and I would have a fire and just hang out with some wine etc...

Re: Vacations with toddler and baby twins
I think the cruise out of NY sounds like a great idea. I've heard people say to go while the weather's still nice in NY so that the first day or 2 are not spent inside or in rough seas. I think Diana just got back from a cruise that left from Baltimore & she raved about it. As far as all inclusive, I've heard amazing things about Beaches (they're in Jamaica & Turks & Caicos but very pricey). And Beth (Bxgell) talks about the Club Med Sandpiper in FL. At least that flight is pretty short (I think the resort is like an hour from West Palm Beach airport.)
I'll be interested to hear what you end up doing & how it goes. I'm already thinking about vacationing with the twins & DD when they're approx. 6 months old (DD will be almost 5). Maybe I'm nuts for even considering it.
Have fun!!!

Re: Vacations with toddler and baby twins
Great thread! We are twins with toddler also!
We just booked Virginia Beach for May. We heard there is lots to do on the boardwalk and the surrounding areas. We wanted our first vacation to be driveable to save money since even if you fly we now need to rent a bigger car to accomodate all the car seats and gear!
We're thinking of something else for fall -- we'd love to do Disney again. We'll see!
We often stay in timeshares so we have kitchen/laundry which makes packing esaier and seperate rooms so we're not bored to tears when all the kids go to bed.
One thing to think about for the cruise. Most cabins only have those tiny showers. SOmething I never thought about, but friends who travelled with a young one brought one of those portable blow up tubs for the base of the shower to give the little one a bath since not all kids like showers at that age.
