VACCINES
How do you feel about the vaccines that youre DD or DS is going to get . I read on web sites that they are trying to blame the vaccines on Several Learning Disabilies ?

Re: VACCINES
I believe in vaccinating but even as a healthcare professional I do not believe in the CDC's schedule for vaccinating. I feel that it is too much, too young and too many shots at once so we do not follow the schedule at all and there are certain shots we have or will be delaying quite a bit.

Would you mind filling me in on which ones you will be delaying?

My daughter is 1. She has not had any doses of HepB at all and we will delay this until she starts some kind of school. She is at home with me and not in any kind of daycare. HepA-this is a new recommendation. Haven't decided when we'll do this one Chickenpox-undecided on when MMR-probably until she's 2
I also didn't start any vaccinations until 5 months and may have waited longer if we weren't going to be traveling. She gets 1 vaccination at a time except polio and HiB which I let them give together.

Re: VACCINES
I think the connection between autism and vaccines is pretty loose. It seems that for every study there is saying there is a connection, there is a study saying there is no connection. I think that if pediatricians thought there was a connection they would delay or come up with another schedule to CYA (which I think is very big int he medical field)
but I don't see anything wrong with delaying if the kids are home and not leaving the country.

Re: VACCINES
I let the dr give what he thinks Andrew should have, when he should have it. And I am perfectly happy with my decision

I feel the same way, I trust my ped. DS only gets one or two shots at a time.

Re: VACCINES
Both my children have gotten their vaccines when the pedi suggests. We have not delayed any... I have no problems at all with their vaccine schedule.
Their schedule consists of 2 shots per visit, starting at 2 months, then 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 months and then a year, etc.

Thanks for the info! I want to delay DS at least until 6 months but DH is pretty adamant about keeping him on schedule with his vaccinations.

Re: VACCINES
If you want to know about another side of vaccines read "Evidence of Harm". It makes you think twice about what you give our children. The thirmersol (mercury) is no longer in the shots (maybe still in the flu). But I know there is still formaldehyde & aluminium. You also don't know the long term results: add, adhd, etc. Why such an increase in autism 1 in 166 children. Why is learning disabilities on the rise?

By the way I also agree with vaccinating our children but why all the additives?

Re: VACCINES
Then what solution is there offered? Not give vaccinations? What about THOSE repercussions?
Other possible reasons for increase in autism: 1. We are better at detection/diagnosis. Years ago, these children were just classified as just mentally disturbed.
2. Funding- school districts are often granted more funding for autism related therapy. Often children who would just be labeled "mentally retarded" or developmentally disabled with some autistic-like tendencies are labeled autistic to make more services available to that child.
3. An increase in what is included on the autistic spectrum. Children diagnosed with Asberger and PDD are included in the general autistic diagnosis. The spectrum is so broad- there's no wonder there has been an increase.
My feelings are that if autism were only caused by vaccines/themerisol, then kelation therapy (removing the themerisol from the body through different types of treament) would ALWAYS work. Sadly, it doesn't, in fact, results are quite inconsistent.
I will do whatever vaccines my doctor feels are necessary, and at the time she feels they should be. I have done my research and feel comfortable with that.

Re: VACCINES
I don't believe in giving more than one shot a visit. I followed the CDC's recommendation as to about what time they should get it but for the first few months my kids got theirs ever 2 weeks. I have the schedule if anyone wants to look at how I broke it up. I sat with my mom who is a midwife and made our own schedule.
I agree with others. My kids are 3 and 10 months old. They obviously were not sexually active so why give a Hep shot before more inportant shots they n eed like against whooping cough which could kill them.
FM me if you want my break down.

Well with a little nudging you can get most doctors to admit that there is no medical reason for the CDC's schedule. It's really an exposure issue. Meaning that doctors are more likely to have access to children in their first couple years of life because as they get older parents are less likely to comply with all well child checks so they get them in as early as they can. If you're responsible parent and devise your own schedule there is nothing wrong with that. My DH was supportive of doing it this way so I didn't have to do much convincing.

Re: VACCINES
We followed the CD guidelines. Jack is 17 months and has had everything without any problems or crying. The kid is like a rock when it comes to shots.
Why you ask? My husband is Active Duty and is frequently in not so nice places, as well is there is a possibility we could move to some not so nice places, and Hep is recommended here in Florida due to our children frequently being in pools and the possibilty of water or heck the gulf/ocean having a contaminate.
Increase in Autism risk? Well Fetal Ultrasounds have also increased in the past 10 plus years who knows if that's to blame also. I only had two for that very reason. Lots of things could be to blame for it. All of Jack's shots were free of thermosil (sp) and a very good friend who works with Autistic children told me she would sway me away from them if she thought Jack was at risk, but she felt it was safe and that prior, and after he hasen't shown any risk of autism.
