I don’t understand why the vaccine is required for after school programs when the same kids are sitting together all day long with no requirement.
Either require it for school or don’t require it at all. This is nonsensical and not remotely based in science.
Sports, chorus, orchestra, etc. have had this mandate in NYC since September for ages 12 and up. Reason give was they are closer together for after school activities such as these examples, not 3 feet apart and sitting at their desk the whole time, like in the general classroom.
I think that is disgusting. There is no reason they can not social distance during after school activities. Long Island schools have been doing it all year. Everyone in schools is up in arms about the DEI initiatives and this reeks of social inequality. The children in the city who probably need these programs the most are being denied entry or their parents, if they do not want to give the vaccine are forced to if they want to participate.
It's kind of funny because I recall a certain poster on here talking about how it wasn't on anyone's agenda to mandate the vaccine for school. There was no reason to be concerned. But for all intents and purposes they are mandating it. If you are a kid that lives in the city you can't go out to eat, you can't go to an entertainment venue, you can't participate in any extra curriculars. The only thing you can do is go to school. It's just so crazy. And you KNOW that the rest of the state will be soon to follow.
I don't know who you are speaking of, but I totally think that they will mandate for the next school year and I think it's ridiculous. People that are for this mandate need to really think carefully because it's going to start a slippery slope. Next up Flu shot. I did vaccinate my children but for personal reasons but I will 100% stand up for a parent's right not to vaccinate if that is their choice. There is not enough data and it has not be tested enough nor has it been proven effective to place any mandates on it for children.
Not to mention the FACTS and the SCIENCE show that the risk to children is miniscule. Certainly not enough to justify a mandate. Especially since the flu is actually more deadly to children and never once was there talk of a mandate for the flu shot. If someone doesn't smell the bull shit, then I have no words

Aside from contact sports, why can’t kids be 3ft apart for chorus and orchestra? That to me is more problematic than anything because if a kid is exposed and less than 3 ft apart they have to quarantine.

Not if they are vaccinated, they don't have to quarantine.
I'm on LI, but our school cheer team had a girl with Covid. No one had to quarantine since they are all vaccinated (and no one else ended up sick). The varsity team had someone with Covid and half the team had to quarantine since they were not vaccinated. I'm pretty sure the state guidelines don't require quarantine for those vaccinated.

They don’t. And that is one of the reasons covid is spreading like crazy right now. Just look at the colleges. They mandated all those kids to get vaccinated or they couldn’t go to school. That was supposed to keep them healthy and in school. It’s not. So so many are having outbreaks right now and switching to remote and now many are mandating a third booster. School started three months ago and now we need a third shot. Third or you can’t go to school. But you hardly hear about this because it doesn’t go along with the narrative. When this insanity end?

My son is in band and they are 3ft apart with band masks to eliminate quarantines. I’m not sure why orchestra is high risk because they have no reason to even unmask.

It doesn't . Ever wonder why the numbers are going up? They are using the vaccine as a reward. Get your vaccine and you get a gold star! You don't need to be inconvenienced by having to quarantine. Or getting tested every week at work. Even though the science now shows that makes no sense. But let's keep doing this because we're morons. Maybe that shit stirrer who came on here to tell us all how uneducated we were was right...maybe there are smart and stupid states. NY definitely seems to be one of the very stupid states...that is for sure!!!

I don’t really understand what people want. You (general) don’t want to wear a mask, but rather cheesecloth masks. You don’t want to get the vaccine. You don’t think the vaccine even works. You don’t think any of the rules make sense.
I really don’t understand how people want to go about this. Learning to live with Covid? Yeah, I got that, but treating it in hospitals isn’t at its full potential yet. And healthy eating takes time for the whole population to do. They have been working on that forever. Or do you want to just wait and watch the hospitals get overwhelmed and then what?
Our rules are a little different here (FFP2 masks everywhere and unvaccinated can only go to work (but need a special test to go on public transport), the supermarket and essential shops; no restaurants or shopping at all for them and they are checking everywhere), but it seems to be working and numbers have gone down a lot. But they had to call in the air force to bring patients to different states and different countries, so that we can avoid getting fully overwhelmed, as people are already dying from heart attacks because the hospitals are full and they are not making it in time for treatment. And, no it isn’t the media. I see and hear the planes and helicopters a lot.
Unvaccinated or not, the hospitals are overwhelmed here. I’ll do my best to mitigate that as best as I could.

Numbers are down in other states that don’t require mandates, like FL. Explain that.
You never really showed the numbers of hospitalizations because you expected us to translate your charts. I see my niece living life in Germany so not sure if it is different areas but by what you are saying, it is just a big lockdown there and people all over sick.

The other question again not really focused on but you will hear mentioned as a side note. But aren't hospitals overwhelmed because they lost staff? I believe that hospital admissions has to have some relationship to hospital staff. It might no be to overwhelming cases of covid but rather the understaffing from Covid burnout or the vaccine mandate.

Yes - understaffing def is playing a part but also they are seeing an increase in very sick people - from not just Covid. My friend said their Covid unit has ramped up a little but they are seeing a lot of very sick people otherwise.

I don’t know about other states like Florida.
I gave you a chart. If you can’t google and look at our world in data, I don’t know what to tell you. Ask your niece to translate for you?
I’m going to guess she is probably in another state. But go on, keep telling me what *I’m* experiencing isn’t real. I’m vaccinated. It’s the unvaccinated that are in lockdown here. If you want to go to crowded places and you are vaccinated or recovered, you also need a negative test.
But that wasn’t the point to my post. Hospitals are overwhelmed in my state. What do you want them to do instead of constantly complaining about it all day? What’s your plan?

We want quarantine and mandates to make sense!
We want a vaccine that is more effective.
We want more focus on treatment.
We want our government and the media to stop spreading falsehood to fit the narrative that the vaccine is doing it’s job 100% when it’s clear it’s not.
Also, we are not in Germany so we can only talk about what is happening here in the US. And the rules and narrative are not making any damn sense.
I am so sick of hearing the hospitals are overwhelmed, can we define overwhelmed? Because I don’t think it’s any where near how it was in 2020. There is no crazy overwhelmed hospital here in Nj and my grandfather is in the hospital in FL with Covid and he isn’t lying on a gurney in the middle of the hallway being ignored.

We all want a vaccine to be more effective. I’m disappointed, too, that it doesn’t work as they thought it would. But studies have shown that the vaccine reduces serious illness or death. I’ll take that.
And you’re right you can only talk about the US. I just feel this whole pandemic we have been ahead by a few weeks. Last month I was in the same situation you guys were. That’s why I bring it up.
The hospitals aren’t completely overwhelmed now because they are buying time like holding off surgeries as much as possible. But in my city, they are overwhelmed and bringing them to other hospitals and Italy.
I do think taking away the mask mandate over there was pretty stupid. I’m still at that one. The rules here at least make some sense.
I think something like wearing (decent) masks for everyone and doing regular testing in schools, etc. is a reasonable request for right now. Do they do testing in schools there? They make it a motor skills activity here, lol, twice a week.

Yes this all takes time, but don’t push lies to get more people vaccinated or impose mandates to practically force parents to vaccinate their kids. Patience and time wouldn’t be an issue for people if they weren’t dealing with these ridiculous rules and if there was more honesty and truth behind what is going on.
I think the treating unvaccinated like 3rd class citizen is wearing really thin on folks. Even more and more vaccinated believe it’s ridiculous because now it’s effecting their kids or their already struggling businesses. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated can spread covid, that is a fact. There is no reason why a vaccinated person doesn’t have to quarantine if they have been exposed and go around all free like they are super heroes protecting the universe. When someone with antibodies probably has a stronger and longer immunity. It’s odd antibodies and people who had Covid are never a factor or discussed. It always about the vaccine and treatments are rarely discussed as way to help this pandemic. So people don’t have patience to wait when they feel like nothing is being done correctly.
I am not sure if they are still doing random testing in NY for schools, that’s a good question. I don’t think it was implemented in NJ.
I also agree the masks lifting was a bit premature and now it will be hard to implement it again because people here are starting to lose trust and faith in the government.
As I said in another thread, lifting the vaccine mandate but focusing on mask wearing would make more sense to me. People will still complain because you can never please everyone but at least scientifically this makes more sense if you are trying to stop the spread. But pharmaceutical companies don’t make the billions off of mask wearing.

All this!

Well, I can see how the unvaccinated being treated as third class citizens would wear thin on them. But I also feel a lot of those same people refuse to wear a mask, or complain endlessly about it. I’m directing my question more towards those people. You (general) don’t want to wear a mask. You don’t want to get a vaccine. You don’t want the booster. You want life to go back to normal. But how? The only answer I see for that is a time travel machine.
I feel like the only treatment we have now is the vaccine. And when, or if, they find a treatment that works after someone is sick, the pharmaceutical companies will still get rich from that anyway.

You are referring to me but you are misquoting me.
I never said "it wasn't on anyone's agenda." I said it was not on the Dem's platform, not a party goal. Not something the multitude of local politicians were after. And that is still the case. This means that they are persuadable, and therefore it makes much more sense to reach out to representatives to begin the process of persuading them rather than wasting time on here complaining repeatedly about it (that was meant in general, not to you specifically.)

Ahh no thanks. I don’t want to bother her to try and do that as I don’t know how much German she knows and she has her hands full with 2 young children. Hospitals might be overwhelmed for many reasons. You want to think, and believe, it is only Covid.

How about staying home if you are sick no matter vaccinated status.
How about working on a treatment instead of a 4th vaccine.
They don’t want this to end as then the money flow will end.

“You want to think and believe it is Covid?”
What is wrong with you? Telling me what I think and believe? It was on the link with how many are in there for Covid. I don’t have time to do your search and translation work. And Covid is Covid in most other languages. I guess you can’t read English either.

And healthy eating takes time for the whole population to do. They have been working on that forever.
They have been working on that minimally, and to tell u the truth just to appear they’re trying to do something. If they really wanted to consciously work on healthy eating for the population, there wouldn’t be as many junk food restaurants in almost every corner, garbage food wouldn’t be so cheap, and there would be more support, education, and funds distributed to farmers. There would be way more relevance put into the importance of clean eating habits, and wholesome food would be much more affordable and to the reach of everyone, especially those with low income that need assistance the most. A wholeeee lot of health problems would be lower significantly just by once single change but of course that is not convenient for big industries...big food, big pharma, insurance companies, etc. A sick population is way more profitable than a healthy one. But food is just one component of health, there are other things that come into play, like stress, -prolonged, severe stress...something that almost everyone has during this time.

The hospital argument has no merit. You still get sick and pass Covid even if you have the shot. If all your unvaccinated people are quarantined, why are your hospital numbers going up?
Here staff shortages because of the mandates are causing extra work for the hospitals.

What’s wrong about venting? People can’t do that either?? And why would u think that those that are venting are not reaching out to their local representatives?
